Last month, Ashwath Kaushik beat Grandmaster Jacek Stopa from Poland in a chess competition. He also broke the record set a month earlier by Leonid Ivanovic when Leonid beat Grandmaster Milko Popchev. Only 12 players in the history of classical chess have defeated a grandmaster at the age of 10 or younger. Among them only Ashwath and Leonid have done so at the age of 8. Ashwath told Chess.com this made him feel really excited and proud of his performance. Ashwath's journey into the world of chess began at an early age, as his father uncovered that he learned the rules of the game at just four years old, thanks to a chess application. His father explained he picked it up on his own and played with his grandparents. The kid's commitment to the game was evident. He would spend up to seven hours a day being absorbed in chess. According to his father, Ashwath not only played the game but also solved complex problems visually. When Ashwath was asked if he intended to continue playing competitively, he answered that he would keep moving till he became the world champion.  
