despite为介词，它后面出现的what从句只是相当于一个名词性词组： Despite what his father said, the boy went out. 你的问题“Despite what……引导的句子应注意些什么呢？”也就是what从句应该注意的问题了。（如果需要的话，我还可以给你讲一下what从句需要注意的问题） 其实在正式的文体当中despite后面一般不接what从句，而是接名词、代词、动名词。 He managed to eat a big lunch despite having eaten an enormous breakfast. 尽管早餐他吃的很多，中午他还是吃了不少。 我前面举的例句在正式的文体中应该说成： Despite his father's orders, the boy went out. 对于despite还应该掌握两个常考的搭配： despite the fact that Despite the fact that there was almost no hope of finding the missing boy, the search party still went on looking. =Although there was almost no hope of finding the missing boy, the search party still went on looking. 尽管找到失踪男孩的希望很渺茫，可是救援队还在继续找寻。 despite oneself She took the money from her mother's purse, despite herself. 尽管她不想，可是她还是从她妈妈的钱包里面拿了钱。 |
