 资源简介

Text 1
M:I'm hungry. Can we go get a burger or something?
W:Didn't you ask me to help you lose weight?
M:Yeah, but all I've had to eat today is a salad. I've never been hungrier in my life!
Text 2
W: Should I take a taxi or a bus to the town center?
M: You can take either, but the train goes directly there. It’s cheaper, too.
W: Thanks. I’ll do that instead.
Text 3
M:What's the score in the game? I was listening to the radio earlier, but I haven't checked it in over an hour.
W:I just turned the TV on, but it's a commercial break right now, so we'll just have to wait a minute.
M:Hey! That's the ad for the new Leonardo DiCaprio movie! Quiet!
Text 4
W:Why aren't you going to college? You're a great student. Won't your parents be disappointed?
M:Actually, it was my father's idea to take a year off after graduation. He needs help at his brother's company, and I'll get some good experience working there...Not to mention money for school when I eventually decide to go.
Text 5
M:Good morning. How much are the apples and pears?
W:The apples are two dollars a pound, and the pears are three dollars a pound.
M:I'll take two pounds of apples and one pound of pears, please.
Text 6
W:You really don't know what you're talking about, Mr. Cassell.
M:Oh, come on! I saw you take that pen off Ms. Baker's desk and put it in your desk. Maybe I should tell her what you did.
W:Please don't do that. I promise, you've got this whole situation all wrong.
M:That's it. I'm going to find Mr. Langley.
W:There's no reason to bring the boss into this. Look, it's Ms. Baker's birthday tomorrow, so we're playing a little joke on her. We're going to replace all her pens with kids' markers, and then we'll return everything the next day. Get it now?
M:Oh. I guess I, uh...won't say anything. Sorry about that.
Text 7
M:I'm so tired. I worked out for almost two hours today.
W:I'm pretty tired, too. But I was up all night last night working on a paper for my sociology class. It's for my major, so I had to make sure it was perfect.
M: How late did you stay up?
W:Oh, I'm not sure, but it was already light outside, I can tell you that.
M:What? That's crazy. Why did you leave it to the last minute?
W:It's just the way I write papers. Whenever I study for an exam, I start preparing weeks in advance. But there is something about writing papers that makes me want to stay up all night writing. Maybe I like the idea of being a journalist and working long hours, or maybe I just have more focus in the early morning.
M:Well, how do you usually do on your papers?
W:I haven't gotten anything less than an A since high school.
M:Wow, it really works for you!
Text 8
W:Good evening, sir. Do you have a reservation with us tonight?
M:Yes, it's under the name Willis.
W:One moment ... Willis, party of four, is that right?
M:Yes, that's us!
W:Wonderful. I see half of your group has not yet arrived. I can seat you now, or you can have a drink at the bar while you wait.
M:Oh, I think my wife and I would prefer to sit down now.
W:Would you like a table by the window?
M:Oh, that would be great! And please bring us some ice water and some menus.
W:Coming right up, sir. I can also take any other drink orders besides water.
M:We'll definitely order a bottle of red wine, and we may also order a bottle of white wine depending on what food we decide to have. But we can take care of that when the others arrive.
W:Very good, sir. I'll bring you our wine list right away, and I'll let our wine expert Ralph know that you may have some questions for him.
M:Great, thanks.
Text 9
M:This is so much fun! I've never been to a horse race before.
W:I'm glad you could come. My dad used to take me here all the time when I was a kid. He knew some of the trainers, so we would actually get to go down onto the track and touch the horses before races!
M:Wow! Do you know how to ride a horse?
W:Yeah, I've done it a few times. But I don't think riding a horse and racing a horse are similar at all!
M:You've got a point there. So, when does the race start?
W:In less than five minutes. But there will be a dozen races today, so if the next one isn't very competitive, we'll still have a chance to see a good race later on.
M:Awesome. Hey, what are all those people doing over there?
W:They're putting money on which horse will win the race.
M:How do they know who will win?
W:They don't know for sure. It's just a way to have fun. All the horses have cool names, and it's a way to get people excited about cheering for them. Look, that one is named Grandpa!
M:Ha-ha!
W:I'd never put my money on a horse, though. It seems like such a waste.
M:You can say that again! Oh, it looks like the race is about to start!
Text 10
All right, everyone. Thank you for coming in today. As you all know, we're here to celebrate the career of Maurice Jones. Mr. Jones joined the company three decades ago. He worked in the mail room after he finished high school, and he got promoted to office manager after a few months because he was so well organized. He stayed in that position for a year and a half, at which point he demanded that the company pay for him to get his degree while he continued to work. This had never happened here at Bradley & Cooper before, but Mr. Jones drives a hard bargain, as you all know so well! Mr. Jones took night classes so he could remain on the team full-time, and his hard work and devotion to learning made him a perfect candidate for a management position. Mr. Jones continued to move up the ladder here, becoming the vice president of operations just five years ago. Mr. Jones will most definitely be missed. We will all remember his warm smile and strong will to succeed. I think everyone could learn a thing or two from Mr. Jones, including me. I've been with this company from the very beginning — almost 40 years — and I can tell you that this is one special man right here. Congratulations for making it all the way to retirement! Let's give Mr. Jones the microphone now so he can say a few words...
