 资源简介

Text 1
M: Have you finished your homework, Jane?
W: Not yet. The temperature is so low that my hands are frozen.
Text 2
W: How quickly can you get me to the airport?
M: It's a thirty-minute drive on the highway, but I know a way that will get us there in twenty minutes.
Text 3
W: Hello, this is Linda. I'm ringing to say goodbye.
M: When are you leaving?
W: I'm catching the 11:35 boat.
M: Have a good trip.
Text 4
W: Could you possibly come home earlier today, Bill? We need to buy some vegetables for dinner.
M: I'm sorry. I have planned to get a haircut on my way and then I have to attend a party.
Text 5
W: Hello! Red Star Hotel. What can I do for you?
M: Hello! Could I speak to the manager, please? I want to learn about the position advertised in today's newspaper.
W: Certainly. But wait for a while; he's just answering another call in the next room.
Text 6
M: Everyone seems to be on a diet nowadays. Have you noticed that?
W: Yes, and everyone seems to talk about that, especially girls.
M: A friend of mine was on a sweet potato diet. He ate a sweet potato for breakfast, a sweet potato for lunch and another one for supper.
W: That's bad for his health. Has he lost any weight?
M: Yes, but it didn't last long. One day he felt sick and was sent to hospital.
W: I'm sorry to hear that. I think if you want to lose weight, you should not eat too much but eat all kinds of food such as vegetables and fruit. And you should do more exercise.
M: I agree with you.
Text 7
W: Excuse me. Do you think I can return these gloves?
M: What's the problem with them?
W: They are too small.
M: Didn't you try them on before you bought them?
W: Well, as a matter of fact, I received them as a gift.
M: OK, I see. I'm afraid I can't give you a cash return, but you can change them.
W: I believe you sell these gloves for $25.
M: Yes. I'll take the gloves of the same price for you to choose.
W: Oh, that pair looks nice. May I have a try?
M: It's $29.If you want to take that pair, you'll pay some extra money.
W: OK, I will.
Text 8
M: What's the matter, Anne? Do you have a problem?
W: Yes, I have a chance to get another job and I don't know what to do.
M: If it's a better job than your present one, take it. That's my advice.
W: It isn't as easy as that. I like the job I have now very much. The people in my office are very nice and my work is very interesting.
M: What about the pay? Will you get more money?
W: Yes, the pay is better. If I accept the job, I'll get more money right away. What should I do? I have to let them know my choice today.
Text 9
M: Hi, Judy. It's me, Peter Kent from ABC Company. I'd like to tell you that we have received the machine and are quite satisfied with it. But we find we don't have much choice about the color.
W: Sorry to hear that. We will email you the picture this afternoon. You may see all the models with a colored picture.
M: Great.
W: Can we expect an order from you?
M: Yes, that's why I'm calling. I want to order 500 machines. I wonder if you can make the delivery by the end of this month.
W: Thank you so much for your order. We will have some problems delivering them by the end of this month because we don't have enough machines. But we can deliver them early next month.
M: OK. We can do with that.
W: Good. I will work out the agreement this evening and would you please come over tomorrow morning to sign it?
M: I'm afraid I can't. I have a staff meeting to attend then. Shall we meet at lunchtime?
W: Sure. Bye for now.
Text 10
Most Americans treat their pets like a member of the family. This means that Americans love their pets, and they provide them with the proper home, food, exercise, and medical care.
Sometimes they add to the interest of their pets' lives with amusing videos and toys. If they like fashion, pet owners can dress their pets in pretty clothes. You might say Americans treat their pets like they treat their children — sometimes even better.
The most common pets in the US are dogs, cats, birds, and fish. Pets, such as dogs and cats, make good companions. But in addition to providing good companionship, pets are useful, too. For example, dogs guard property, cattle and sheep, and lead the blind. Monkeys, unusual pets in the US, will soon become useful pets for disabled people to have. Scientists are now training monkeys to help disabled people do simple tasks, such as eating, cleaning the house, and even changing the channel on the TV set!
