Text 1
M: What's wrong, Jane?
W: I feel lonely. No one likes me.
Text 2
M: How much does each bottle cost?
W: One bottle is $20, but two bottles are$35.
Text 3
W: Hi, Paul! You also like this restaurant?
M: Yes, I often have lunch here. Hey, have you seen Kelly?
W: No, but I'm going to see her after work. She's in a meeting now.
Text 4
W: I hate this dusty, dirty and old library. There is nothing but old books here.
M: Yeah, no wonder there are only two or three people here every day.
Text 5
M: Can I borrow your car for a few hours?
W: Of course, but I need it back by 4:00 this afternoon.
M: OK, I'll give it back 30 minutes earlier.
Text 6
W: You have some lovely paintings for sale. Can you tell me who painted the one in your shop window? It's amazing.
M: The oil painting Swiss Mountains?
W: That's beautiful as well. But I meant the one below it.
M: Oh, that's Summer Flowers, created by Luiza Vizoli. Look, there is a picture of her here in the magazine.

W: Hello, Mary Smith.
M: Hello, Mary, this is John. I'm calling to ask if you have got my e-mail about the meeting.
W: Yeah, I did. I'm sorry I didn't write back. I have been busy the whole morning.
M: That's OK. But you know I am leaving for Beijing tomorrow and we need to meet before I leave. Are you free this afternoon?
W: Sorry, I have an appointment with another business partner of mine at 2 pm.
M: All right. How about lunchtime? I will be in my office.
W: Well, that's fine for me. I will go over to your office then.
M: Thank you, Mary. See you then.
W: See you.

M: Good morning. I'm Mr. Green from Greece. My room number is 727. Would you mind showing me my room?
W: Sure. This way please. It's on the seventh floor. Are you in Hainan on holiday?
M: No. I'm here for the computer exhibition.
W: Mr. Green, here is your room.
M: But I reserved a single room. I don't like sharing a room with someone else. What's more, this room is rather small and dark. Could you possibly find me a larger and brighter single room?
W: I'm so sorry, sir, but this is the high season. We don't have any spare rooms at the moment.
M: But my company booked a room for me ages ago!
W: Mr. Green, I'm so sorry. I'll call my manager right away.

M: Hey, Jane. I went to see the head teacher and he said it's OK for us to form a club.
W: Oh, really?
M: Yes. Firstly, we need to decide on the name of the club. Um... What about"First Club" or "Super Film Club"?
W: I think"Our Super Film Club" sounds better.
M: OK. What about the main aim of the club?
W: I'm afraid the lower grade students won't be interested in our activities. I think we should only aim our efforts at students from Grade 4 to Grade 7.
M: Oh, and don't forget that Grade 5 and Grade 7 students are not allowed to join any school clubs because of the public exams.
W: Yes. Next let's decide what kind of activities we want to do.
M: Um... I think we should organize film shows after school and organize visits to film studios on some weekends.
W: That's great.

Thank you, all the competitors. I won't say much because I know you're all anxious to hear the results — it was a very difficult decision and I'll start with the band which came in fourth. That's Texas Team, which is the youngest group here today. Unfortunately, the violinist played so quietly that we couldn't hear him. So bad luck to Texas Team. The third was Eastside. They are such good dancers that they should enter for a dance competition. And with a bit more practice on the music they'll do very well. In second place is Third Avenue. They did well, especially their young guitarist, but the singer looked so unhappy. We thought maybe he didn't want to win! Never mind — you nearly won, so better luck next time. Congratulations to The Storm who are our winners today. The singer had such a great voice that we had to give them first place. Well done.
