W:Well, my professor is suggesting that.
M:You should have a try.

W:While you are at the library, Fred, would you get the books on this list for me?
M:I'll look them up, Mary, and then I'll tell you which ones are in, but I don’t want to borrow them with my card.

M:What makes you believe that it was stolen?
W:I left it on the table half an hour ago, but when I came back from the restroom, it was gone.
M:Are you sure you left your wallet on the table?
W:Of course, sir. I planned to pay the bill at the cash desk before I went to the restroom.
M:Is this your wallet? We found it in the restroom.
W:Oh, yes, it is. Well, I must have left it there and forgotten to take it. Thank you.

M: Look, Mum has left a note with housework for us to do while she and Dad are away this weekend.
W:Let's see — tidy up the garage and clean up the backyard.
M:She doesn't say which we should do first.
W:Hey, we are not robots! We can make our own plan as long as everything gets done. Read the weather report in the newspaper.
M:Hmm. Sunny today, cloudy tonight, probably heavy rain tomorrow. Well, that makes it easy. We work outside today and inside tomorrow.
W:Yep. Let's get started. I want to go to the supermarket this afternoon.

W:Hey, can you get your dog to shut up? Some people are trying to sleep around here!
M:Now, wait a minute! Prince is just barking because your cat is screaming all over the place!
W:But do you know what time it is? It's one a.m., and I've got to get up at six to go to work. If I don't get some sleep soon, there's going to be one less dog in the world.
M:Are you threatening me?
W:I am merely telling the truth.Barking at night has been proved to be one of the leading causes of death in dogs.
M:You're nuts!
W:That's possible. But please, can't you get that dog to close his trap for a few minutes? Or do you want me to call the police?
M:You ought to shut your own trap. You're the one making the most noise now!
W:That's  it! Bernie! Get the poison!
M:Come here, Prince.Nice boy.I'm going to take you inside.I don't trust that crazy old woman next door.

M: This is my card, and these are four books. Can I continue borrowing them?
W: OK, a moment please. I'll check for you.
M: Thank you.
W: I'm afraid you couldn't borrow the dictionary again.
M: Why?
W: It is over the deadline for 15 days. You should pay 1 dollar for each day.
M: How come? I borrowed it and the other three novels together at the same time.
W: Well. According to our regulation, people can keep novels for one month at most at a time, while they can only keep dictionaries for two weeks.
M: I was thinking of buying it from the bookstore when I found it here. Anyway, here's the money.
W: No. You should take the dictionary and go over to that counter to pay for it. And then you come here to borrow the books.
M: Can I keep the novels?
W: Sure.
M: Thank you. I'll be back in a minute.
Text 10
Mr.Stevenson was the owner of a general appliance store.Customers coming into his store would ask him a lot of questions about price, features and after sale services, but they would usually walk away at the end of their inquiry. The other day a young couple came into his store. They asked him all the usual questions and he answered all of them patiently. But at last they said, "We'll have to look around other places first." Although feeling a bit disappointed, Mr.Stevenson did not show it.Instead, he smiled, moved closer and said, "I know you will go to Discount Dan to look at the price tags. That's perfectly understandable. In fact, they sell the same stuff as we do.What's more,I will always be ready to help you with the things you have bought from here.I've been in the business for thirty years.I stand behind everything I sell and I will make sure that you will never regret buying things from me." After this short speech, Mr.Stevenson offered the young couple some ice cream to thank them for their interest.Impressed by his honesty and sincerity, the young couple decided to place an order.
