Were you a naughty boy or girl at a young age? How do your parents or grandparents describe the little you?
One day, Frank was walking with his mother outside. When they came to a pretty garden, he said to his mother, "Mother, I wish I could open the gate and walk in." The gardener heard what Frank said, and kindly invited him and his mother to come into the garden.
Frank's mother thanked the man. Turning to her son, she said, "Frank, if I take you to walk in this garden, you must take care not to touch anything in it." Frank walked and looked at everything, but touched nothing. He was careful not to break the flowers with his clothes.
The gardener was very pleased with Frank because he was so careful not to make trouble. He showed him and told him what the flowers and plants were.
While Frank was admiring the beauty of a flower, a boy came to the gate. Finding it locked, he shook it hard. But it would not open. Then he said, "Let me in. Let me in. Will you not let me in this garden?" "No," said the gardener. "I will not let you in, for when I let you in yesterday, you touched my flowers, and even picked some fruit." Then the boy walked away slowly with a red face.
Seeing this, Frank felt a boy would be happier for not touching things that do not belong to him.
四、听力填空
本题你将听到一篇演讲词。请你根据所听内容,完成下面的句子。每空一词。
Boys and girls, you may want to know how to make a true friend. Hopefully my speech will help you know which friends are likely to be true.
Be able to trust. You are supposed to trust your friends and they should return this trust. Do your friends tell you a secret? Ask you for advice? Both are sure signs that your friends trust you.
Consider how comfortable you are together. Think about it. How comfortable do your friends feel when they are around you? Are they being themselves around you? Are they acting happily or perhaps hiding something? Do they listen to you carefully when you want to share your thoughts? A true friend is someone who will give you courage and love.
Think about loyalty. True friends are always there for one another. A friend doesn't have to be perfect, but must always bring you joy. If you are in need, your true friends should be there to offer a hand to you. You could depend on them whatever happens.
In a word, a true friend is someone who stays when the rest walk away. Wish you find your true friends. Good luck.
