Jill always got too much love from her parents. So she was lazy. She never helped out at home and even didn’t know how to tidy up her room. At school, she wouldn’t do anything for others. So she didn’t have any friends.

One day, Jill took the bus to visit her aunt. She sat next to the window. After a while, more people got on and the bus became a little crowded. Jill thought to herself, “What bad luck they have!” Just then, an old man stepped onto the bus. He carried a walking stick to support himself, and stood beside Jill. But Jill looked away to avoid giving up her seat.

Several minutes later, the bus came to a sudden stop and the old man just fell over. Luckily, he didn’t get hurt, Jill felt so sorry. The old man might get hurt because of her being cold. She stood up and offered the old man her seat. Then she saw the old man looking at her thankfully. Jill felt shy at first. Later, they talked with each other along the way.

The experience changed Jill. She became a kinder girl and gradually made many friends.
