W: One week is not enough to tour around all those places. Let's go to Los Angeles. It's only three hours away, so we don't need to fly there and we can save some money.

M: You're right. We'll have more free time to do what we want too.

W: My parents have two cars. I'm sure they would let me borrow one for the trip.

 

M: You'd better not do that. The traffic in Los Angeles is too heavy, and parking will be expensive. Let's just book two train tickets.

M: Ha-ha! She'll love that if I tell her, Maria. Well, my mom always eats the right things. She takes good care of her body — she eats fruit and vegetables every day; she doesn't eat cakes or have sugary drinks.  

W: That doesn't surprise me at all. What does her typical day look like?

M: She gets up early and runs for a long distance. Then she has a cup of tea and relaxes for a while. She also tries to get other forms of exercise done regularly.

W: Like what?

M: She cycles every other day. She also goes to a gym club on Tuesday, and swims twice a week with one of her close friends.  

W: Maybe I need to join a gym again. I joined one last year,  but after a while I stopped going. You know how hard it is to balance work and personal life.

M: Oh, definitely. When it comes to exercising, what matters most is consistency. It's great to get some exercise, but you have to keep doing it if you want to stay fit.

W: Right. Sitting like this all day at work makes me uncomfortable. Your mom has convinced me — I'm joining a gym today! Maybe we can go together after work. 

Now we've spent two hours at sea. I think this is a good place to stop. We usually get lots of sharks around here, so keep a lookout. The captain has thrown 50 kilos of meat overboard, so the sharks will soon be here. They can't resist the smell of blood! It's a lovely sunny day, so we should get a good view of them when they arrive. There will be lots of opportunities to take photos. Now, which of you is going to show your bravery? Who wants to be the first one inside the shark cage? The cage can totally protect you from sharks' attacks. It has strong steel bars that even the hungriest shark cannot bite through! Some of you may have heard stories about sharks attacking people inside shark cages, but in the 10 years I've been guiding tourists, no one has ever been hurt. All we need is someone getting inside, and then we will lower the cage off the end of the boat. It's scary, but it's a good way to get close to those powerful ocean creatures. Perhaps sharks here in South Africa are nicer than those in places like Australia and America!
