When I was a teenager, I loved to go to the zoo. On a pretty day, my father and I went to buy tickets for the zoo. One family with four children was standing in front of us. Their clothes were not dirty but they were clearly old. They were excitedly talking about their favorite animals. When the ticket seller told them the price, the man's wife let go of his hand and shook her head. There was no longer a smile on the man's face. The man didn't have enough money.
Seeing what was happening, my dad took a bill out of his wallet and dropped it on the ground. Then he called the man back, picked up the bill and said, "Excuse me, sir, this fell out of your pocket." The man knew what was going on. He looked into my dad's eyes, held my dad's hand in his and took the $20 bill. With tears in his eyes, he replied, "Thank you, sir. This really means a lot to me and my family."
We didn't get to watch the performance that night, but we didn't care. We felt good about lending a hand.
四、听力填空
本题你将听到一篇短文。请你根据所听内容,完成下面的句子。每空一词。
China's 15-year-old Chen Ye won gold in the Men's Park Final of Skateboarding at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2023.
Chen started getting into this sport in 2016. Although it was really challenging to stay on the board at first, Chen found it very interesting. Every time he did some difficult actions, he felt the joy of making progress. Gradually, Chen needed a better skatepark for training. To meet the need, his father made a skate bowl himself. Chen was really thankful for his father's support.
As a junior high school student, Chen needed to pay attention to both his schoolwork and skateboarding. He could be free from PE classes, during which he would do schoolwork because he needed to practice in his own skate bowl for hours after returning home. While getting ready for the competition, Chen trained harder at night.
Chen said this experience made him stronger and more confident.
