本部分共有10道小题，每小题你将听到一段对话，每段对话听两遍。

1.W: An earthquake made thousands of people homeless.

M: I am sorry to hear that. We should do something to help them.

2.M: Could you please help me put the bottles away? I don't need them any more.

W: No problem. These bottles can be reused.

3.M: Which one do you think is the most important invention, the car, the computer or the mobile phone?

W: I think the mobile phone is the most important of all.

听一段对话，回答第11—12小题。

M: Mrs Green, I am sorry to hear that your house caught fire three days ago.

W: It was terrible. We were sleeping when lightning hit the house. It was about 2 o'clock in the morning.

M: How terrible! Did the firemen come to help?

W: Yes. I called 119 and they arrived in five minutes. They put out the fire quickly.

M: Was anybody hurt?

W: Luckily, nobody was hurt. My family were safe but the computer and TV set were burnt.

W:Last Monday, a group of children were playing at Yingchun Street at 5 o'clock in the afternoon. Suddenly, they saw a car coming from the corner, and the driver was driving very fast. When the car passed by them, one of the children was hit. He fell down and his right leg was badly hurt. The other children ran after the car, shouting to the driver, but the driver didn't stop his car. They decided to send the boy to the hospital first, and then called the police. When the policeman came, they told him about the accident and the car's number. At last, the policeman caught the driver.

M: One day, a little boy went for a swim in the lake behind his house.He jumped into the water, not realizing a crocodile was swimming towards him. In the house, his mother was looking out of the window. She saw the animal getting closer to her son. She ran towards the lake, shouting as loudly as possible to her son. Hearing her voice, the little boy swam towards his mother quickly. It was too late. The mother held her little boy by her arms as the crocodile bit his right leg. The crocodile was much stronger than the mother. But the mother never gave up. Luckily, a farmer happened to drive by hearing them calling for help. The boy's mother and the farmer saved him.
