W: Peter studies in Grade 8 at Yuying Middle School. He does very well in protecting the environment. He never throws rubbish on the ground or draws pictures on public walls. He once wrote a letter to a factory to ask it to stop polluting the water in the Swan Lake. Every spring, he plants trees in the parks. He has collected 60 kilos of waste paper and 3,000 bottles so far. He's going to sell them and give the money to Greenriver. "If everyone does something to protect our environment, the world will become a better place，" he said. We're proud of him.

M: Twenty years ago, my home town was about thirty kilometres away from the nearest city. There were about 50,000 people. Most people worked on the farm and lived in small houses. Children went to the local school.

Later many people moved to the city to find jobs. At the same time, the government built flats in my home town and it became part of the city. Now people don't need to work on the farm. They work in the factories. The local school closed down five years ago, so children had to go to the schools in the city. The city is becoming bigger and bigger and it has a population of about 3.7 million now.
