W: What is the weather forecast for the coming three days?
M: Let me check it. Today, it's pleasant with some sun; Monday, it's partly cloudy; Tuesday, it's windy.
Text 2
W: Where are you going, Mike?
M: I'm going to buy a present for Linda. It's her birthday tomorrow. Jane and Betty are coming to the birthday party, too.
Text 3
W: I hope you can come to the party on Saturday.
M: I didn't know I was invited.
W: Sure you are. Everyone in our office is invited.
Text 4
W: What's the matter? I'll finish it in a minute. You've been sitting there for ages, just staring into space.
M: I told Mike I'd send him a postcard too.Now I don't know what to say.
Text 5
M: Did you hear about the fire at the Department Store?
W: Yes. It's reported that the building was completely destroyed.
M: That's right. It went up like a matchbox. There was nothing they could do to save it.
W: What a terrible fire!

M: My co-worker has three baby cats to give away. Do you want one?
W: Is that all I can have? I'd like to have them all.
M: Other people may want one, but you can have the first choice. There's a black one, a gray one and a white one.
W: It is said that black cats bring good luck, but I think I'll go for a gray cat.
M: OK. If you can have another one, I'll bring the black one to you as well.
W: Thank you.

W: I had an appointment with the doctor the other day.She told me that I'm too tense.
M: Really?
W: Yes.She said I need to relax more and start taking it easy.
M: Well, you don't want that. What do you think is causing it?
W: I think it's because I changed my job.You know, when you start a new job, you have to learn so much.I think that's the main cause of the problem.
M: Did the doctor give you any medicine or anything else?
W: No.She said to get a pet, preferably a dog.Taking care of it will take my mind off things. So I'm going to have a try.

W: Hi, Jackie! We're going to a party on Friday evening. Would you like to come?
M: To a party? Ruth, I'd love to! Whose party is it?
W: My friend, Ben. He's going to Paris on Saturday. He's got a great job in a French magazine.
M: Wow! Good for him. Is he having a party at his flat?
W: Yes. He's arranged it.
M: Who else is going?
W: Well, some of Ben's friends from work and us.
M: That sounds good. What time are you going?
W: About nine o'clock. The party is at ten.
M: I'd like to go with you. I'll meet you at your flat at a quarter to nine.
W: No problem. See you then.
Text 9
W: You look unhealthy this morning, dear. Why don't you exercise more?
M: I know, Lisa. I need to lose weight. So I'm going to start by eating better. "An apple a day keeps the doctor away", as the saying goes.
W: Eating well is good, but you have to be active. You're not going to get healthier just by sitting on that sofa and eating apples.
M: Well, I can certainly lose weight by eating less. That's the first step.
W: What about working out? Doesn't that also help to lose weight?
M: It does. But since I haven't gone to the gym for years, I want to lose a little weight first.
W: I know you may feel too shy to exercise in a gym, Peter, but you really need to move more. At least go out for a short jog in the afternoon!
M: You're right. But I'll have to start out slower than a jog! I haven't run in ages.
W: I have an idea. Let's go for a walk around the neighborhood every evening. We can do it when it's dark, so no one recognizes you.
M: Deal! Thank you for understanding, sweetheart.

M: Hi, Polly! This is James. I was just ringing to check that you're still OK to go camping with me at the weekend. My parents think it is probably better not to go too far away because it will probably rain this weekend. They suggest we camp just outside Guilsfield. That's a village not far from here. The subway is usually very crowded. We can catch a bus to the village and then walk there from the bus stop. The place is on a farm.I drove my father's car there once, about five years ago. You've got a tent, right? Can you bring that? There's no need to bring food because we can eat at the farmhouse. I'll bring coffee and milk. We'll need to set the tent up before it gets dark, which on Friday should be around eight. So let's meet at the bus stop at a quarter to four so we can catch the four o'clock bus and get there by five. I'm so excited! Call me back soon. Bye!
