Text 1
M: Amy, lunch is ready.
W: Wait a moment.I am sending an e-mail.
M: Come on.I have to attend a meeting in half an hour.
Text 2
M: I'm so bored. I have nothing to do at work. I just surf the Internet all day long.
W: I'm so busy at work and it's driving me crazy. I really wish I had your job.
Text 3
W: Can I help you, sir?
M: Yes, I've been a bit careless and left my driver's license on a train.
W: Oh, dear. Well, let's take some details and see what we can do.
Text 4
M: I think I'll order the chocolate ice cream because I didn't eat lunch earlier today.
W: No dessert for me.I can hardly get into my jeans.
Text 5
W: Hello?
M: Hi, Liza. It's Peter. Is Grace there?
W: Oh hi, Peter. No, she isn't here at the moment. I'm afraid she's at the college.
Can I take a message?
Text 6
M: Would you like something to drink, ma'am?
W: Yes, give me some coffee, please. No milk, no sugar.
M: Certainly.
W: My friend is coming in a minute, and he loves sweet juice. What kind of juice do you recommend?
M: We have apple juice and strawberry juice. They're both sweet. But I recommend strawberry juice because apple juice was made yesterday, and stored in the refrigerator.
Text 7
W: We've been on the computer all the time lately. Why don't we do something different on Sunday afternoon?
M: Well, we could go to a concert.
W: But I don't think we can get the tickets this late.
M: Then what about playing a computer game? There's a really cool new one we could download.
W: Hmm, I don't know. I feel like I need to do some exercise. We could probably just walk by the lake, and I'll ask Mike to join us.
M: That sounds like fun. Let's do it!
Text 8
M: Can I help you?
W: Yes, I want to fly to Chicago on Wednesday the seventh and return on Friday the ninth. How much is the ticket?
M: Tickets are cheaper if you stay over Saturday night.
W: Thanks, but unluckily I've already arranged some business here that Friday. I also want to visit a distant relative. So I'll just have to pay the extra cost.
M: What time of day would you prefer? Morning or afternoon?
W: Morning, because I have to be there by early evening. Is there a meal?
M: Yes, they'll serve breakfast, and you'll also see a film.
W: Sounds good. But what's the total cost?
M: Eight hundred and fifty dollars for a round trip.
W: That's more than I expected!
Text 9
W: Good morning, Steve! Did you sleep well last night?
M: I slept like a baby. I didn't wake up once.
W: That's great news! You look much better than you did yesterday.
M: I feel more relaxed now, but I'm still worried about something.
W: What's that?
M: Well, I have to drive to school for a meeting this morning, and I'm going to end up getting stuck in rush-hour traffic. For me, traffic jams are always quite annoying, because I'm pretty impatient. What can I do then?
W: Just breathe deeply.
M: OK. I'll try that.
W: Is there anything else bothering you?
M: Just one more thing. A school called me this morning to see if I could teach a few classes this weekend and I don't know what to do.
W: Try not to take on more than you can deal with.
Text 10
W: I'm looking for a small apartment or maybe a small house. It is about 60 square metres, nothing big. I only need two bedrooms, one for me and the other for guests. One bathroom will do, and to be honest, I hardly ever cook so the kitchen doesn't have to be very big. It's really important that I don't want to be looking at just another apartment block. An apartment in front of a park would be perfect but a top floor apartment would do fine. Then I would like it to be near a bus station because I don't have a car and use public transportation all the time. I'm single and have no kids so schools are not important. And there is just one other thing — I do a lot of work on the Internet and so I would need a convenient network. Do you think you have anything that matches my requirements?
