W: What's wrong with your stomach?
M: I'm not sure. I am waiting to be examined.
Text 2
M: Why is the bus so late? I don't know how I can make it in time for my meeting. But taxis are too expensive.
W: How about taking the subway instead?
M: Good idea.
Text 3
M: Hi, Sarah! It's a sunny day, isn't it?
W: Yes, how about tomorrow?
M: Tomorrow won't be a good day for a picnic! It will rain heavily.
Text 4
W: Can I help you, sir?
M: Yes. I need a lock for my bike. I'm a photographer, and I often have to leave my bike to take pictures.

M: Did you hear that Sam from Paris office will be coming here?
W: Will he be visiting our office or just taking a vacation?
M: He'll be in charge of our Boston office. How lucky he is!
Text 6
W: You're Bill's father, aren't you?
M: Yes, I am. He brought a note home saying you wanted to see me.
W: I'm sorry to ask you to come today, but I'm worried about Bill's schoolwork.
M: Well. I know sometimes he doesn't do his homework.
W: Er, I think that the main problem is that he needs glasses.
M: He just had his eyesight checked here at school, didn't he?
W: No, he was absent that day. Maybe he was afraid of the eyesight check. Also, he has to do better work or he'll have to repeat the fourth grade next year.
Text 7
W: How do you like my blouse, Peter?
M: I like the color. It's very beautiful! Light blue is going to be popular this year.
W: Well, it's the most fashionable color this summer. And the color of the material never fades. What's more, it is cheap. But what do you think of the style?
M: I think the color is great but the style...I think it's a little out of fashion. What do you think?
W: It must make me look a little strange, huh?
M: Don't worry. I know a very good tailor. She can make your blouse look like the latest fashion.
W: Really? Can you give me her number?
M: Sure.
Text 8
M: Could I borrow some money, Wendy?
W: How much do you need, Chris?
M: Well, I only have 50 yuan, but I need 100 for my dog.
W: Oh, no! What happened to Pookie?
M: He ran away. We were not sure where he went, but he was very sick when we found him. Now the vet says he needs some special medicine. Otherwise he will die.
W: I'm sorry to hear that. I wish I could help, but I've only got 25 yuan. Why not ask Stan?
M: I feel bad. He always helps us out. Is it OK to ask him again?
W: I think so. He earns more than us, and he doesn't have children.
M: True. And he likes helping people. I still feel embarrassed to ask, though.
W: Think of Pookie!
Text 9
W: Hello? It's Melanie speaking.
M: Hi, Melanie. It's Tim here. I'm really, really sorry about lunch today.
W: I waited for a whole hour!
M: I was really busy at work and one o'clock went past without me even noticing it!
W: I was really busy at that moment too. You really could have called a bit earlier.
M: You're right. I'm sorry.
W: Well, it's all right. Forget it.
M: No, I can't forget it. Why don't we have lunch on Wednesday? I promise I'll be there!
W: Well, OK. Oh, sorry, I just remembered I will have a hair appointment at that time!
M: Oh, don't worry. Maybe we can meet at the same time on Thursday.
W: Ah, yeah, that should be OK! Sorry, you'll have to excuse me. I have to cook dinner.
M: No problem.
Text 10
W: What do I usually eat and drink? Well, my alarm goes off at 7:30. Five minutes later, I get up, have a shower and then have breakfast at about 8:00. I make a cup of tea, and have orange juice and then bread. Then I go to my office. My job is not stressful. I don't eat anything during work time, so I'm quite hungry by lunchtime. I have lunch at 1:15. I often go to a cafe near my office and I have about an hour for lunch. I have salad and sometimes have a cake. And for drink? Well, water. I don't like to have too much tea or coffee in the day. I have my evening meal at about 6:30 and I like cooking so I try to make something healthy, usually chicken or fish with rice. I never have sweet food, but I do have a cup of coffee after dinner. Then I often turn on the TV. I like watching talk shows. I enjoy living this lifestyle.
