W:Jack! You are here! I’m going to China soon! I am excited about my trip.
M:I’m excited for you too. Amanda is busy. So I am bringing you your tickets.
W:Thank you!
M:Are the travel dates OK?
W:I fly to China on August 27th. That leaves me ten days to get ready. I come back on September 5th. These dates are great!
M:Did you ask your boss about those dates?
W:Yes. He is giving me those days off. I’m so glad! I really need a vacation!
M:Are you planning your trip?
W:Yes. I have some travel books about China.
M:Can you look at your tickets again?
W:Sure. Is there a problem?
M:No. Amanda has a surprise for you.
W:I love surprises! Wow! I’m traveling first class to China! This is so exciting!

W:Can you tell me what is so special about your department store?
M:Well, yes, it is special. Reynold’s is a large department store and you can find everything you want for the home here.
W:Yes, that’s right, but isn’t there anything special about the staff — you know — has anybody retired recently?
M:No. Nobody has retired recently, and we never force anybody to retire here.
W:Who is your oldest employee?
M:Well, that would be Arthur. Arthur is our cleaner, and he’s 87.
W:87! And he cleans the store every day?
M:Well, not alone. He works with two other cleaners. They’re not so old — Mabel’s 70 and Ivy’s 76.
W:And they don’t want to retire?
M:No. I think they enjoy the work, and it keeps them young.

For most language learners, London is the top place to go. They think London is an English learner’s dream destination — it’s the place you’ve read about in articles and seen on TV.
However, there are many other great destinations in the UK too, one of which is South West England. The most popular regions in South West England are the counties of Devon and Cornwall. They are by the coast and known for having some of the sunniest weather in the UK. England is not known for its beaches, but in South West England you will find plenty of wonderful ones. Some examples include Whitsand Bay and Carbis Bay in Cornwall and Woolacombe in Devon. If you don’t mind the slightly cooler temperatures than other beach destinations in Europe, you will get a real treat! Exeter in Devon has great shopping stores, as well as lots of cafés and the city’s best-known pubs. Cornwall has its own treasures too — pretty villages and towns like Marazion, which make for the perfect locations to spend those relaxing summer afternoons!
