Now, enough of background. What about the festival? The festival events take place in three main venues: the City Library, the Conference Centre and the Norchester Theatre.

When you are planning your visits, remember that many of the activities for younger pupils will be at the City Library, and the secondary school pupils may find the Conference Centre more appealing.

Here are some specific events that will take place this year. One event of special interest to locals is Waterworld, featuring a clay model of southeastern England, in which presenters show the effects of rising sea levels. Science in a Suitcase is a comedy acted by two scientists who do crazy experiments and sing songs and try to make people laugh. Ropes and Hangings is an interactive event which appeals to the young. After experimenting with ropes and bricks, they build a real bridge. Another highlight of this festival is Paper and Time in which some experts will show the techniques they use for the conversation about ancient books.
