M: I’m sorry, Ann. I broke your favorite teacups.
W: Never mind, but be careful next time.
W: If I go to Washington, D.C., will you meet me there?
M: I have to go to New York first. But if I have time, I’ll meet you there on Friday.
W: I wish my aunt Marcie wouldn’t talk on the phone at the dinner table. It’s not very polite.
M: She isn’t doing it on purpose. You know she just started a new company and is constantly occupied.
M: Have you booked your train ticket yet?
W: Not yet. I lost my ID card. What about you?
M: I just booked my ticket by phone this morning.
M: Laura, could you give me a lift? I have to return this book to the library right now.
W: No problem. And if you are busy now, I can return it for you. I know you are preparing for your birthday party.
M: It’s so kind of you.

W: Hello, Jason. What are your scores of the English tests?
M: 24 in Listening and 26 in Reading.
W: That’s impressive. I got 28 in Reading but I only got 20 in Listening.
M: What score did you get in the Structure and Writing section?
W: 22.
M: Wow, that’s good. I just got 20.
W: What do you think of my room, Leon?
M: Well, it’s too dark.
W: So would it be a good idea to paint the room white?
M: That might make it look a bit like a hospital. Yellow or green would be better.
W: Yes, maybe I could paint the walls yellow.
M: You could also get some new furniture that doesn’t need so much space. Your desk is too big for the room. There are other things you could do. How about putting a big mirror on the wall opposite?
W: You may be right. I think I’ll get a mirror. Let’s go shopping on Saturday!
W: Hi Jack. Jane and I are going to the library on Saturday. Will you come with us?
M: What are you going to the library for, Susie?
W: I want to collect some magazines for our history project.
M: Oh, good idea. Which library are you planning to go to? The one near the shopping centre?
W: That one has closed. We’re going to the one opposite the park gate, but not the one by the hospital.
M: And how are you getting there?
W: My mum can’t drive us, so we’re going to walk from my house. We can take the bus back afterwards.
M: OK. What time shall I get to your house then?
W: Well, the library opens at nine in the morning, so come at eight thirty. It takes about twenty minutes to get there.
M: Fine. See you later!
M: You look unhappy.
W: Yes. You know why? I had three books delivered this morning. The same two books. It was really strange.
M: Did someone send them to you by mistake?
W: It was my fault. On the order form, I keyed in the wrong number when ordering the books.
M: You must be more careful next time.
W: So do you like shopping online?
M: To be honest, I like it very much. It is so convenient. And we will have more choices compared with shopping at the stores.
W: But it sometimes takes more time. We always think we can get a better price, so we sometimes spend several days surfing the Internet, but then end up buying nothing.
M: It happens. But it is up to how you deal with it.
W: There are always two sides to everything.
Hello, everybody, I’ve arranged two talks for you outside school hours. And now I would tell you some details. The first talk will be made on the second of December by Ellie Brown. Ellie has done lots of interesting jobs, including being a teacher. She now works as a travel writer. She’s going to tell us about her schooling and about some of her travels. She offered to talk about Brazil or Thailand, but we finally agreed she’ll talk about her most recent travel to Australia. She has got lots of great photos to show you.
The second talk, by Harry Fowler, is going to be on the eighth of December. Harry works as a camera operator and has lots of experience in making documentaries. He’s going to tell us about filming wildlife shows. If any of you are keen to know more about his work, after his talk you can buy his book. You’ll be able to get it at the discount price of nine pounds, which is great because it’s fifteen pounds in the bookshops. He’ll even sign for you.
