M: No. It is only available to students in grades 1 to 6.

W: That’s bad. Jim is already in the seventh grade.

M: Then try the Books-A-Million Summer Reading Program. Children in middle school can join in this reading program.

M: Well, if you’re flying, Reagan National Airport is the closest. You can take the underground right from there. Dulles International Airport is further away and a taxi is probably the easiest. And then Baltimore-Washington International Airport connects to a train that you can take right into the main train station in town.

W: OK, cool, I think Reagan should be the best. And do you pretty centrally lie in Washington DC? Like, next to all the sights? My friend asked me to stay in her house, but I don’t think it would be very convenient.

M: Yep. We’re in the Dupont Circle area, pretty central to Washington DC. You can walk down to the White House. The underground is right around the corner.

W: Do you include breakfast?

M: Yes, madam, and we also offer dinner if you like.

W: OK. That sounds good. Thank you. I’m going to think about it and once I’ve got everything booked, I’ll give you a call.

M: First, I’d like to thank everyone for coming tonight. It is so nice to have everyone here to celebrate this special day with me. I’d also like to thank my good friend David Arnold for organizing this wonderful party. My 20 years of working at the university have been some of the happiest years of my life. I have been so lucky to have worked with so many good people. I am very happy that Anne Sharp will be taking over my position. She is a very experienced teacher, and I am encouraged to see she has such a passion for this important job. I’d also like to congratulate her for getting married. Anne, I wish you a long and happy life, and I hope you enjoy your honeymoon in Australia. Finally, I’d like to thank Craig Anderson. It was he who had convinced me to work here, otherwise I would have become a fireman. So what will I do with myself now? As you know, I have a love for languages. I can already speak Spanish, so my next wish is to learn Chinese. My wife and I will be going to China this summer. Once again, thank you, everyone. I will truly miss you all.
