M: Barbara, aren't you supposed to go to Dr. Smith's lecture today?

W: Oh, I've asked one of my friends to take notes for me. So I'm able to help Linda do an experiment.





W: I can't go to the dining hall now. I'll have to go back to the classroom. I left my cell phone on my desk.

M: But I remember having put it into your bag.

W: Really? Ah yes, you're right.





M: The instructions on the package say that you need to put the folding table together yourself. I've spent all afternoon trying in vain to do it.

W: I know what you mean. Last time I tried to put together a toy train for my son, I almost gave up.





M: Oh, I'm so sorry I forgot to bring along your book.

W: Never mind, I won't need it until Friday night.

M: I promise I'll give it to you this Wednesday.

W: Really? Wednesday is April Fool's Day!





W: I think your article in the school newspaper is great. Your viewpoints have certainly convinced me.

M: Thanks, but reading through the general responses, you and I are obviously in the minority.

W: Yes, they were nice. We met some farmers and they invited us to have tea in their house.

They just have some jazz music, very quiet, nothing too loud. What's your favorite restaurant?

M: Well, it's just a very simple restaurant. There are only about six tables in there.A couple of waitresses wear ugly pink uniforms. But the food is great, very tasty, and cheap too, which is important, of course. There are some truck drivers sitting at the counter drinking coffee and eating sausages every morning. I always have pancakes in the morning and their fish pie for lunch. That restaurant has been open for many years. They say the actor James Dean eats there sometimes, but I don't think that's true.

W: Good morning, everyone. This is Helen Green with What to Do Today on the air. It's quite a warm and sunny Saturday. Now, if you've got nothing to do today, why not go to East Mountain in the city and get digging?  That's the message from Sussex Middle School. It is organizing a tree-planting activity in East Mountain. Sussex Middle School is a member of the organization of Helping Blind Children. It is raising money for  poor blind children in Asia by planting trees. A famous computer company agrees to give $30 for each tree to be  planted in the city. Sussex Middle School is planning to plant 1,500 trees this weekend. Students and their parents are hoping to plant a half today. They are looking for volunteers to come along and help. Tree-planting experience is not necessary as there will be experts to give help. Thick gloves will be provided to protect your hands when you are doing the digging. There are also hats provided. And please do bring basic tools with you to dig holes and water trees. Everyone is welcome to come along anytime from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this weekend. So it could be really a nice day out for all the families. This is What to Do Today. Thanks for your listening. Enjoy your day.
