W： So，are you having problems with your sight? Did you hurt your eyes recently?

M： Not that I know of. Yesterday， when I was driving， I noticed I couldn't see the road signs clearly. My parents' eyes are perfect， so I don't know what this could be.

W： Okay. Normal vision is what we call 20/20 vision. That means you can see things clearly up to 20 feet away. Do you have any trouble seeing the television screen or reading?

Happy Laba Festival! The Laba Festival is celebrated on the 8th day of the last month of Chinese lunar calendar. This day is marked by eating a type of special porridge. At the oldest temple in Beijing， free Laba porridge is handed out. Although the weather is very cold， crowds of people have come here to try it. The two most important traditions associated with the Laba Festival are praying for a good harvest and eating Laba porridge. The Laba Festival reminds people that Chinese New Year is just around the corner. The traditional recipe is a mix of things like rice， red beans， and nuts. It takes several  hours to make. But the porridge in the temple here has many more， including fruit， seeds， and black beans. Porridge used to be handed out to the poor during other periods in Chinese history. Though most people today are here for the experience， the act of sharing is still a powerful symbol of charity.
