M: Do you always buy things you don't really need? And why?

First, when we buy something new, it causes us to buy more things to go with our new item. For example, if we buy a new sofa, this may cause us to buy a matching coffee table.Whenever we shop online, the site always suggests related items. As a result, we end up buying things we previously didn't think we needed in order to feel happy or satisfied.

Another reason is advertising. Take cellphones for example. You can buy a phone for 1,000 yuan that will do everything you need, but all my friends and I constantly pay five times amount for a new phone. It's partly because these constant ads plant messages in our brains, convincing us that certain things are cool and must-have items.

Finally, we tend to overspend is because we use credit cards and digital wallets. These are convenient methods of payment, but they make it challenging to monitor our spending habits.Handing over physical cash can make the cost of a purchase more obvious and lead people to think twice before spending.
