Have you ever tried a marathon? I ran a marathon last year with my parents' encouragement. I felt both nervous and excited when I was waiting on the starting line with other runners in the race.
At the gun, I began to run. After an hour, I felt tired and started to slow down. My legs were shaking. I wanted to give up, but I encouraged myself to hold on and stop at the second resting point. I looked at the road ahead of me and told myself again and again,“I can do it! Don't give up easily!”
After two hours, I reached the second resting point. I found that I was not as tired as I had imagined, and I felt as if I could hold on. I kept hanging on and gradually made my way to the end. My parents and friends cheered for me. Although I was out of breath, I was proud of myself and smiled happily.
Through this experience, I realized a simple truth: Setting small goals makes it easier to achieve success. If I only saw the end as my goal, I might not have been able to last for so long. The same is true of our studies and life. We should break up our large goal into smaller steps that we can achieve with our own efforts.
四、听力填空
本题你将听到一篇短文。请你根据所听内容,完成下面的句子。每空一词。
2024 is the Year of the Dragon. Dragons are not real animals. However, Chinese people have loved dragons so much for thousands of years. In stories, Chinese dragons fly in the sky or swim in the sea. They can control rain and wind. They are considered a symbol of strength and good luck. The emperors of ancient China loved dragons. Their clothes were covered with pictures of dragons. In Chinese, excellent people are often named“dragon”.
However, in Western countries, people have different ideas about dragons. In a story, a dragon even has seven heads. Western dragons have wings and catch people. A man usually becomes a hero after killing a dragon. In one of the Harry Potter stories, Harry Potter has to kill a dragon to get a golden egg.
Though there're differences, the Chinese dragons and Western dragons share some similarities. Both Eastern and Western records say dragons are like snakes.
