How much do we know about the daily lives of blind people? For most of us, the answer is “not much”. But Molly Burke wants to change that.
Molly was born in Canada in 1994. When she was fourteen, she lost her sight because of an eye illness. She felt sad. However, the worst thing was that some kids laughed at her and this made her very down. Molly decided to overcome these difficulties. She shared her experiences in public speeches and encouraged others like her. At the age of twenty, Molly decided to share her story online. She used a screen reader on her smartphone and computer to help her. Molly made videos about her daily life. She shared how she traveled to different places. She also taught people how to help blind people without hurting them.
In 2019, Molly's first book came out. In this book, she told short stories from her life experiences. Since Molly lost her sight, she has found audio books very helpful. So she invited people to read and record their voice for the blind. Both the listeners and readers enjoyed this way of reading. Her book was one of the best-selling books of the year.
Today, Molly has millions of followers online. The speaker and writer continues to make a difference in the world!
四、听力填空
本题你将听到一篇短文。请你根据所听内容,完成下面的句子。每空一词。读两遍。
Hello, everyone. I'm Amy from Teen Health. Today I'd like to talk about four topics about health.
Firstly, can it be dangerous to listen to loud music? Yes! But how do you know? Well, if someone sitting next to you hears the music on your earphones clearly, then you need to make it quieter.
Secondly, how much exercise should you do? Doing too much sport can be bad. You can get hurt easily. It's better to exercise for 30 to 50 minutes. And think about when you do sports too. For example, you'll get a stomachache if you play tennis just after you've eaten.
Thirdly, is it OK to feel sad sometimes? Everyone feels unhappy sometimes, so you're not alone. It's normal for your feelings to change. Talk to a friend or to a parent about how you feel, or even a teacher. If you talk about your problems, they won't seem so bad.
Finally, are some foods healthier than others? The answer is yes! I'm sure you know that a plate of fruit is healthier than a plate of chips! But your growing body, your heart and your brain need different kinds of foods. If you are careful and eat a bit of everything, then you'll be healthier.
Well, that's all for today. If you follow the four pieces of advice, you will be healthier.
