Franz Schubert was a music giant. He wrote over six hundred songs, and many other musical works.
Schubert was born on January 31, 1797. When he was little, he learned to play the violin with his father's help. One of Schubert's brothers also gave him piano lessons. Schubert had a talent for singing, too. He got into a good school and got a place in its boys' singing group. He learned a lot about music there. Later, Schubert started writing music. In 1818, Schubert decided to write music full-time. It was a good move. People liked his music, and they even paid him to write music for them. Schubert finally made money from his musical works, but they didn't make him rich. Even so, Schubert worked really long and hard. Sadly, his health got worse, and he died at the age of 31 on November 19, 1828. Schubert's music touched many people during his time. His works still touch people today.
