M: What are you going to do after class? To the library?

W:No, I'm going to buy some school supplies. What about you?

M: Oh, I'm going to the post office.

Text 2

W: Frank, I'm so bored just sitting here. I wish we had something to do.

M:Robin said he would go for a picnic today with Jennifer. Maybe we could join them.

W:Great. I'll make a call to him now!

Text 3

M: Rose, Happy New Year! Here is a gift for you.

W: Oh, thank you. Wow, you are so considerate! I like pink, and I like silk,so this scarf is perfect for me. It also matches my dress.

Text 4

M: I like to raise animals, from cats, dogs to birds, fish and frogs in my free time.

W: Raise animals? Really? That's your hobby? That's kind of for old people, isn't it? My grandpa raises animals.

M: But I find it to be very interesting.

Text 5

W: I want to find some toys that the kids can play with on Mike's birthday on Sunday. Do you have any suggestions?

M: I'm sorry, but we didn't celebrate birthdays when I was a child.Maybe you could get some ideas from the Internet.

W: Sounds great!

Text 6

M: Lovely day, isn't it?

W: Mmm, yes, it's really warm, and it's supposed to get warmer. Spring is not far away.

M: Yes, that's true. However, I'm always a little sorry to see the winter go.

W: Really?

M: Well, I love skating. In fact, I used to teach skating for a living.

W: Oh, that seems exciting. So what do you do now?

M: I work at Bank of America. How about you?

W: I work at a radio station. I'm just visiting here for the wedding.

Text 7

M: You look a bit worried. What's wrong, Kate?

W: My professor asked us to make a speech about the great pieces by Shakespeare. I don't know what to do.

M: Shakespeare has many works. You only have to choose a couple of them and talk about them.

W: I guess you are right. Do you have any advice on how to prepare a speech?

M: First you need to select your topic. Have you done this yet?

W: Yes.

M: Good. Next, you should do research on the topic. Do you have a deadline for informing your professor of your speech topic?

W: The deadline is next Tuesday. Oh, no, next Thursday.

M: Then you should have a basic outline of what you will say by then.

W: Thank you for your advice!

Text 8

W: I'm going on a trip soon.

M: Where are you going?

W: Beijing.I went there last year. I visited the Palace Museum and National Natural History Museum of China. The museums there are fantastic. I've been dreaming about visiting all the other ones.

M: Yeah, museums are great for learning about history, science, art, different cultures, and how society has developed.

W: Exactly. Have you ever been to any museums in Beijing?

M: Yes.When I was at college in Beijing, I often went to the museums whenever I got tired.

W: Oh, you're crazy about museums, too! What's your favorite museum in Beijing?

M: China Science and Technology Museum. The lectures there are so educational and wonderful.

W: That's true. So, are you doing anything special next week? If not, how about going to Beijing together?

M: I'd love to, but I'm afraid I don't have enough money.

W: Come on! It won't cost too much.I can get discounted airline tickets, and some museums are free of charge.

Text 9

W: I am told that you took some kids to go camping last week.

M: Yes, it lasted three days.

W: Did the children enjoy the holiday camp or were they homesick?

M: Well, I must admit some of the younger kids were a bit unhappy at first, because they'd never been away from their home on their own before. But soon they recovered. In the end, they didn't even want to go home. And all the kids hoped to come again next year.

W: What sorts of things did you do with them?

M: There were some trips, including a visit to Hardwick Hall. That was what we did on the first day.

W: How was that visit?

M: I thought they expected the visit to be boring, especially when they heard it was a guided tour. But the reverse occurred, for the guide was interesting. His stories made the history of Hardwick Hall alive.

W: I can imagine it. By the way, what sorts of sports activities did you do?

M: A lot. Sailing, climbing, horse-riding and hiking. On the last day we had a barbecue. The kids liked it the most.

W: That sounds impressive.
