M: Yes. I'll take some books out of the school library first, and then I'll watch the game.

M: This carpet is beautiful. Did you buy it in the shop around the corner?

W: Yes,I also bought my nephew a basketball-themed notebook for his 15th birthday there last month. He really likes basketball. The shop owner treats his customers very well.  

M: That's true.And the owner has many new ideas. It seems as if he knows what the young want. More importantly, the prices of the goods are reasonable.  

W: I couldn't agree more. Although the shop isn't very well located, it attracts many people, especially girls. So did you buy anything for yourself there?

M: Yes, I bought a wallet. Let me show it to you.

W: Wow, it looks nice.

W: Harry, let's talk about your essay, OK?

M: OK. Professor Mary, I just wanted to change my essay topic to energy conservation or computer technology.

W: Oh, I don't think you need to change the topic. You know environmental protection is much better than the other two. 

M: I am just very anxious to hear what you think of it.

W: Well, which research method will you take?

M: Someone favors a survey. I'd like to use a questionnaire. But I'll have lots of research data to check. That will be a big job.

W:How about an interview? 

M: I will think about it.Besides, I'm afraid I can't hand in my work before the essay deadline. 

W: But this is our rule.

W: So who is the woman in the picture?

M: It's Mae C. Jemison. She is a famous astronaut.

W: Could you tell me something about her?

M: Certainly. She was born in 1956, in Decatur, Alabama. Her father, Charlie Jemison, was a carpenter,and her mother worked in education. 

W: Does she have any sisters or brothers?

M: Yes, she has a sister who is a doctor and a brother.

W: Did she grow up in Decatur?

M: No.The family moved to Chicago when Mae was three. Her parents thought children could receive a good education there. 

W: Was she good at her studies at school?

M: Of course.She graduated from high school in 1973. That same year, she went to Stanford University. In 1981 she received her Doctor of Medicine degree at Cornell University.

W: I want to know some information about your health centre.

M: Yes. Sit down please. There are two health centres: East Centre and West Centre.

W: How's the appointment system of the two health centres?

M: We have a proper appointment system.But because East Centre has many patients I have to say its appointment system is not bad. West Centre's system runs better.

W: Fine. How about their equipment?

M: East Centre has modern equipment. West Centre also has standard equipment but it is not better than that of East Centre. 

W: I'd also like to know some information about the doctors in both health centres.

M: There are twelve doctors at each centre.

W: I heard that Dr. Joe at East Centre is good with children, right? I'm worried about my son's leg. 

M: Oh, it's Dr. Sam. Dr. Joe is good with women. I think West Centre is a good choice for you. Dr. Jerry at West Centre is very good with leg trouble.  

W: How about medicine?

M: Well, with your doctor's permission, you can get the medicine at our health centre.If it's for a child under the age of 10, you don't have to pay. For patients who are retired or pregnant, there is a special discount. 

W: Right.May I apply for your health centre's membership now? 

M: Of course. Please fill in the form first.

　　M:Welcome to our university. Firstly, we will organize a tour around the campus next Monday. We plan to begin our tour with an introduction to the history of our university. After visiting the buildings, we will help all students to apply for the Student Card. You can enjoy your lunch in the school canteen. After lunch, we will visit the library. A lecturer at the library will give you an introduction to it. On Tuesday, we will visit the computer centre and the sports centre. Secondly, we will inform you about course arrangements. You should gather on the playground on Wednesday morning. The office staff will introduce you to the course requirements. Isn't it a busy day on Wednesday? You will have a free morning on Thursday. We hope all students can come to the department office to hand in your optional course form in the afternoon. Finally, there is a party for you. The party will begin at 5 pm on Friday at our school hall. It will be a good chance to know your advisors and classmates. I am sure that you will enjoy it.
