Text 1

M: When will we arrive at the City Hall?

W: Let me see. It's eight thirty now. I think we will reach the destination in twenty minutes.

Text 2

M: I saw you volunteering with your friends in the community recently. I remember you're not good at socializing. So why?

W: Well, I enjoy helping the elderly and offering support to the food drives. It has strengthened my connection with the community and made me a more caring person.

Text 3

W: Don't throw away the bottle when you've drunk up the wine. I can use it when I make some of my own stuff.

M: Oh, I look forward to that. This stuff is expensive to buy.

Text 4

W: What is happening in the world? Anything new?

M: I'll let you read it when I've finished.I'm on the sports pages now. How is your book?

W: I haven't started it yet. I've been reading a letter my mom sent me.

Text 5

W: Will you stop in and feed my cats while I'm visiting my parents? They'll be all alone and Tom is too busy to come by and do it.

M: Sorry. I'm going on a business trip this weekend.

Text 6

W: You seem to like your new neighborhood, Jack. I'm sure it's more comfortable than the city.

M: Yeah, I love it. There are so many different types of people. I have made some interesting friends.

W: Like whom?Someone you work with at the hospital?

M: No. My two neighbors are both detectives for the area. They have some great stories. Oh, and Paula across the street just moved here from India. She delivers the mail.

W: That's great. You should invite them over while I'm here. I'd love to meet them.

Text 7

W: Do you have any plans for this summer?

M: Well,I want to get a summer job and save money for a vacation. I'd love to travel to some Latin American countries like Mexico and Brazil some day. What about you, Melissa?

W: Well, I'm not going to get a job right away.I want to go to Spain first.

M: Do you go there for sightseeing?

W: No, I plan to take some language courses there.

M: Sounds great, but how are you going to pay for them?

W: I know I can't ask my parents for money any more, so I'll borrow some money from my brother.

Text 8

W: Good morning, Mr White. Thank you for coming. So why did you and your colleagues decide to make bikes from bamboo?

M: We were looking for something light and strong that is an alternative to metal. Wood is generally too heavy, but bamboo is quite light.

W: Why not go for a plastic solution?

M: We wanted to create a green product and avoid polluting the planet.

W: How much do you plan to sell the bike for?

M: As cheap as we can. We want it to be accessible to everyone.

W: What about its speed compared with other bikes?

M: On paths and roads it will be just as fast.

W: But you wouldn't recommend it for hills?

M: No, it is not designed to cycle over mountains or rough land. We see it as an alternative to expensive cars and light motorcycles.

W: Well, I can't wait to give it a try after today's program.

Text 9

M: Do you know there is a new art exhibition in the city?

W: No, I don't. Is it being held at the City Exhibition Center?

M: I thought it was there at first, or at one of the popular art galleries. But no.It's taking place inside the Metropolitan Shopping Center.

W: Seriously? That's so unusual.

M: Yeah. I thought it was ridiculous, but now I think it kind of cool.

W: What are they showing at the exhibition? Paintings?

M: There's a painting section, and most paintings are the works of contemporary artists. Only a few are painted by traditional painters.

W: I see. So what other sections are there?

M: There's a photography section, a sculpture section and a video section.

W: What's being shown in the video section?

M: Short movies. It's actually the second most popular section of all four after the photography section.

W: Interesting. Which section is the least popular?

M: The sculpture one.

Text 10

M:Honestly, I can't believe my dream has come true. As a young man, I have always been imagining moving to Los Angeles one day and putting my whole heart into music. At the time, this seemed like a very distant hope. But thanks to my fans, supporters and wife, I'm here today. First, I released three twelve-song records, which slowly gained attention around my hometown in northern England. And now my latest project, which was just a single song caught the world's attention. Through the ups and downs in my career, I did it all for the love of music. So being recognized for this award means a lot to me. To all the young musicians out there, you can do it, too. Plus, to all the fans and anyone enjoying my music, I've done this for you. This award is for all of us. May many more great things come in the future. Now, put your hands together for our host with the next award.
