M: Yes, that's correct. It will run for three hours. Also, could you have the HR director come to my office at 10:30 a.m.?
W: Understood. I'll arrange that.
M: Max, come to check it out. I found a floating bottle with a note inside.
W: Wow, have you read it?
M: I'm hesitant. What if it brings me misfortune? I'm thinking of throwing it back into the sea.
W: Seriously, it's not a movie.Just open it!
W: Excuse me, could you tell me the cost of renting your two-seat boat for two hours?
M: This is the price list. Have a look, please. If you book today, I can give you a 5% discount.
W: Thank you. Can you also tell me if there are any additional fees for fuel or insurance?
M: Ugh, today was a disaster! The bank was closed when I got there, and then a burst of wind blew my hat into a river while I was paying for fruit.
W: That sounds terrible.
M: The fruit bag broke too, and there was fruit everywhere.
W: Oh, you're really down on your luck!
W: Oh, Jason. The last couple of days I've been pulling my hair out. It's a relief that the presentation is perfectly finished.
M: For the time being, it is. But whether we secure the order is still uncertain.

W: That sounds fun! What's your plan for this year?

W: Unemployment is nothing scary. I can also be a breadwinner for the family.
M: I've been applying everywhere, but most places are offering positions far below what I used to do. I might have to take a job that pays less and isn't as challenging.
W: What kind of job are you considering?
M: A customer service role at a store. It's not what I'm used to, but it might be the only option for now.
W: It's okay to take something for now. It doesn't define your long-term career. This could just be a temporary fix while you keep looking for something better.
M: I hope you're right. I just don't want to feel like I'm giving up on my career.
W: You're not giving up; you're adapting to a tough situation. And remember, we're in this together.

W: Do any of the boxes have dancing figures?
M: Dancing figures are quite popular. Two of the boxes have them.
W: I love the dancing figures.I'll take this music box.
M: Yes, I think you'll be very satisfied with that one.
W: I was wondering, does this come with any kind of guarantee?
M: Oh, no, I'm afraid not. These things are just too old to guarantee anything. But if something goes wrong with it, I know someone who repairs these things.
W: I understand.
M: It's amazing that these things still work as well as they used to! Even if they break down, they're still works of art.

M: I'm so jealous! Did you do anything else?
W: Yes, after the walk, I sat on a chair near the lake and read a book.It was so nice to enjoy the fresh air and lose myself in a good story. I also saw some people having a picnic nearby.
M: Did you try any of the park's facilities?
W: Yes, there was a playground area and a sandcastle. I saw some kids playing on the swings and slides. It reminded me of my childhood.I couldn't resist swinging for a while.
M: It's amazing how spending time in nature can bring so much joy.Let's plan a visit together next time.
听下面一段独白,回答第17至第20四个小题。现在你有20秒钟的时间阅读这四个小题。
M: Sometimes your biggest weakness can become your biggest strength.Take, for example, the story of one 10-year-old boy who decided to study wrestling despite the fact that he had lost his left arm in an accident.
The boy began lessons with an old master. The boy was doing well, so he couldn't understand why, after three months of training the master had taught him only one move.
“Teacher,”the boy finally said, “shouldn't I be learning more moves?
“This is the only move you know, but this is the only move you'll ever need to know,” the teacher replied.
Not quite understanding, but believing in his teacher, the boy kept training.
Several months later, the teacher took the boy to his first tournament. The boy easily won his first two matches and won the third match with his one move. Now in the finals, his opponent was bigger, stronger, and more experienced. For a while, the boy appeared to be overmatched. As the match proceeded, his opponent made a critical mistake.Instantly, the boy used his move to press him.The boy had won the match.
On the way home, the boy summoned up the courage and asked, “Teacher, how did I win the tournament with only one move?”
“You won for two reasons,” the teacher answered.“First, you've almost mastered one of the most difficult throws in wrestling. And second, the only known defense for that move is for your opponent to grasp your left arm.”
