Text 1

M: How much do tickets for the movie cost, please?

W: They're 8 dollars for adults, half price for students.

M: Give me three student tickets, please.

Text 2

W: What are you going to do for the weekend?

M: It depends. If it's fine, I'll go fishing. And if it rains, I'll stay indoors and do some writing. What about you?

W: I am not sure yet.

Text 3

W: Hi Ben, what task do you get for the labor activity this week?

M: I need to help with planting flowers in the school garden. It's like a tall order, but it feels great to make a difference.

Text 4

M: How are your swimming lessons going?

W: Very well. The lessons are worth the time and trouble. I have lost a lot of weight.

M: I'm glad to hear that.

Text 5

W: Hey, is this the painting you mentioned?

M: Yes, it just got cleaned and the colors look much brighter now. I just love how it seems like a typical scene at first, but when you look closer you will discover all these little hidden characters and secrets.

Text 6

M: Mom, I'm going to work at a bank in downtown Chicago. I'll move there from New York in two months.

W: I thought you liked your old job. Why did you get a new job?

M: I like my co-workers, but I hate to work long hours and there's always an endless load of tasks leaving me feeling breathless.

W: Will you make more money working at the bank?

M: No, I will make a little less. But if I work hard, I will get a better position later.

W: I thought you were going to look for a new job in San Francisco. We miss you, and you never have enough time to visit us. Why can't you work at a bank in San Francisco?

M: I also want to move back, but I can't leave right away. Working at this bank in Chicago will give me some good experience.I will try to change to a branch near you and Dad next year.

Text 7

W: Cookies?

M: Sure! Thanks. Did you make them?

W: No! Dad's the one who loves cooking. I'm more into 3D printing. Look, I bought this last year. It wasn't cheap! I had to put all my birthday money towards it. But it was worth it.

M: Wow! Is this a 3D printer? How does it work, exactly?

W: Yes. Basically, you create or download a design onto your computer. Then, the printer builds up a 3D model based on the instructions.

M: What kinds of things do you make?

W: Mostly stuff for the house. My first project was a pencil holder for my sister. Then, I moved onto plant containers. Mom's an indoor gardener! Currently, I'm designing some New Year decorations.

M: Cool! Can I have a look?

W: Sure! Come on up!

Text 8

W: Mark is left alone at home. He doesn't look anxious, but I know he's just pretending to be brave. I'm afraid that he can't deal with emergencies. You know he's only 16.

M: Oh, honey, take it easy!

W: But we have to make sure that he knows what to do in case of emergency.

M: Of course he does. He took part in the first-aid training program last month and passed the exam.

W: The exam? It cannot help absolutely in reality.

M: Hmm, you have a point.

W: I have got a solution. Let's create an emergency situation for him. Then he'll have real-life experience instead of the theory.

M: Shh! Keep the plan between us.

Text 9

W: Hey, welcome to Berlin! It's great to see you again.

M: Yeah, good to see you too! Have you been waiting here at the station long?

W: Only fifteen minutes. But let's get out of here and go to my apartment! How are you feeling after that long bus ride?

M: Ah, it was bad. It took nineteen hours.

W: That's crazy! You could have flown here for 60 euros, and it would only have taken an hour and a half. Was it really worth all that time, just to save a bit of money?

M: Well, it was a pretty uncomfortable ride, to be honest. The bus smelled till the end of the trip, and there was a guy next to me who was breathing really loudly while he was sleeping.I was in no mood to enjoy the views along the way. But the reason why I took the bus was that it's more environmentally friendly than flying.

W: I think it's great that you want to help the environment. But you look so exhausted right now. I just think you should be a little more careful with your health.

M: Well, I wasn't expecting the bus to be so unpleasant. But you're right. Next time I visit you, I'll probably fly.

W: Hi, I'm Sandra and I'm one of your activity leaders. I would like to welcome you all to the Sun and Sea Summer Camp. I would just like to explain a little about the camp program. The camp is built in a traditional village style. It has very large rooms with a fridge, TV, air-conditioner and all other useful equipment. It can comfortably hold 4 people. The Sun and Sea Summer Camp welcomes up to 20 children, aged 12-17. In the morning, there are 2 programs to choose from: the Adventure Camp and the English Language Camp. After the morning activities, it's time for a healthy lunch. After lunch there is a rest time during the hottest hours of the day, which is from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Then the popular All-Camp meeting starts the afternoons when a series of exciting activities take place. Every evening there are special events planned. They are mainly cultural visits and some of these will certainly be among the most interesting parts of your 2-week experience. That's it for now. So, let me get you all to your rooms and on to lunch so we can all get to know each other.
