3.W: Are you free tomorrow afternoon, Hardy? Let's go to an exhibition about great inventions in the museum.

M: Edison was born in 1847 in America. He studied in the school for only a few months. He was taught reading, writing and maths by his mother.
Edison started working at an early age, like most boys at that time. In 1859, he got a job selling newspapers on the trains. He spent much of his free time reading books, and also had the chance to learn how to use the telegraph. In 1877, Edison invented the first phonograph. Without the important step, we wouldn't have CDs today. Two years later, he invented the light bulb.
All in all, more than 1,000 inventions came out of his lab. Edison was really a great inventor.

It was used to wash clothes. His most important invention was a machine that was used to plant rice. It was finally made in 2012. He spent three years on it.
