1.M: Which do you think is the most important invention, the car, the computer or the mobile phone?

W: I think the mobile phone is the most important of all.

2.M: Wow, Lily, you look so pretty in this pink dress.

W: Thank you. And you won’t believe it’s made of waste paper from my school project.

3.W: Are you free tomorrow afternoon, Hardy? Let's go to an exhibition about great inventions in the museum.

M: Great! I'm very interested in great inventions.

M: No. My father bought it for me. He hopes I can use it for my study.

W: Nice. It will be a great help.

三、短文理解

M: Edison was born in 1847 in America. He studied in the school for only a few months. He was taught reading, writing and maths by his mother.

Edison started working at an early age, like most boys at that time. In 1859, he got a job selling newspapers on the trains. He spent much of his free time reading books, and also had the chance to learn how to use the telegraph. In 1877, Edison invented the first phonograph. Without the important step, we wouldn't have CDs today. Two years later, he invented the light bulb.

All in all, more than 1,000 inventions came out of his lab. Edison was really a great inventor.

W: Mr White is my friend Jenny's father. He works as a science teacher in England. Although he has an expensive car, he usually walks to work. In his free time, he likes to invent different kinds of things. He has made 40 inventions so far. His first invention was used to cut the grass. Then in 1991, he made his second invention. It was used to wash clothes. His most important invention was a machine that was used to plant rice. It was finally made in 2012. He spent three years on it. Now several factories are producing this kind of machine. They are very popular with farmers.
