W: The first part sounds good.

Text 2

M: Why are there so many insects? It's noisy.

W: And it's so hot. I told you, camping is like this.

M: Let's drive into town and find a hotel to get away from the noise. It might be expensive, but at least we can sleep in peace tonight.

W: Good idea.

Text 3

M: My school uniform is too tight around the ankles. Do you know where I can buy a new one?

W: Sunshine Uniforms at Maple Street. It offers both online and in-store shopping. But why not just get your uniform fixed to fit better?

M: Sounds great. I can save some money that way.

Text 4

W: Jimmy, are you watching a bird show on TV?

M: No, I'm doing my homework. Maybe it's the birds singing by the window?

W: Oh, it's my phone ringing. Who changed my phone tone?

M: It must have been Cindy.

Text 5

W: Tom, you look under the weather. What happened?

M: I trusted the weather forecast and didn't bring an umbrella, so I ended up getting wet on the way home. Then, I stayed up late studying for an exam last night.

M: Hello! How can I help you?

W: Hi, I live right below you. I've been knocking for a while. Were you busy with something?

M: Sorry about that. I was in the kitchen and my kid was playing the piano, so I didn't hear you. And, what brings you upstairs?

W: It looks like there might be a leak on your floor. Water is coming in onto the ceiling of my study and has even damaged some of my paintings.

M: Oh, no, let's go downstairs and take a look together.

M: Have you heard about the new urban park project downtown?

W: Yes, I read that they're planning to transform an old railway line into a green space. It's on the front page of Greenville Daily.

M: It could provide a great play area for the city. But do you think it's worth the high cost?

W: Honestly, I think putting money into green spaces is vital for improving city life. It's good for the environment and the community.

M: I agree, but with our city's tight budget, might there be a better use for the funds?

W: Possibly, but I believe that the benefits of more green spaces, like cleaner air and a happier community, outweigh the costs in the long run.

M: A good point. I'm looking to feature the project in my next TV program.

W: Great! Let me know when it airs.

W: Hello. How may I help you?

M: Hi, I left my shopping bag under the seat on the plane.

W: Which flight was it?

M: MF302, a direct flight from Iceland to Denmark at 9:30 a.m.

W: Could you please provide your seat number?

M: 31D. It's next to the walkway. Oh, wait, I actually placed the bag under the seat in front of me.

W: Alright, that would be seat 30D. Let me check, sir.

M: Okay.

W: Your shopping bag is still on the plane. The crew has put it aside for you. However, the plane took off half an hour ago. Since it's a round trip between Iceland and Denmark, it will arrive back at the Denmark airport in six hours. You can come back here to the service desk at 7 p.m. to pick it up.

M: That works for me. My flight to Norway is at 8:40 p.m. tonight, will I make it?

W: It should be fine, sir.

W: Hi, Jonny. There's a party at Hummingbird this Saturday to celebrate Anny's promotion. Come join us?

M: Sure. She's being shifted to the headquarters in London, right?

W: Yes, she's leaving in October, probably a month after the promotion announcement goes official next Tuesday. Everyone should have received an email by then.

M: That's soon. I need to get her a gift.

W: Me, too. Do you have any idea?

M: I'm thinking of buying a Scottish music CD so she can remember us when she listens to music from her hometown while relaxing.

W: Nice one! I plan to give her a dinner set. I remembered she bought a bunch of spoons last time she was in Wales for training.

M: Let's head for Buchanan Street the day after tomorrow to pick something, then we can drive straight to Anny's party afterward.

W: That works. Buchanan Street is too far to walk.

M: Deal. I'll pick you up at Springburn Road station at 2 p.m.

听下面一段独白,回答第18至第20个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这个小题。

Text 10

W: Many of us donate old clothes to charity shops, but do you know that most aren't sold? According to The Guardian, only about 20% are sold. The rest are packed and sent abroad, often to places like Ghana, either for resale or to be thrown away. In Ghana's capital, Accra, there is a huge secondhand clothing market called Kantamanto. It's one of the biggest markets in the world. Every week, this market receives around 20 million pieces of used clothing. Unfortunately, about 40% of these clothes end up as waste. Workers either burn this waste or bury it underground, but since Accra is close to the sea and doesn't have enough space for landfills, a lot of waste ends up on the beaches and in the water. This is a big problem for the environment. Clothing waste harms sea life. Sea birds might mistake parts of old clothes for food, and fish often get caught in old clothes, preventing them from growing properly. This also hurts the local economy. Fishermen find it harder to catch fish because their nets often bring up clothes instead.
