M: So I've cleaned the living room, the bedrooms except for...
W: I know. The toilets! Don't worry. I'll clean them.

M: Did you all have a good time on your visit to Paris?
W: Yes, but we all missed Bob.

W: When will you arrive, Mr Baranski?
M: Let me see. It's Monday today, so on Thursday.
W: And how long will you stay?
M: Two nights.

W: Hi, Grandpa. I'm phoning you from the island. How are you doing?
M: Good. It's lovely sunny weather here and there's no cloud. What's it like there?
W: In the middle of a storm. We're watching it in our room.

M: I thought you were going out dancing this evening.
W: I was, but I cancelled my plan because my daughter Catherine came down with a headache.

W: Oh, my dear. It's a lovely day, isn't it? Why not go for a walk with our child?
M: Sorry.I really don't feel like going for a walk now.I have done too much work today, and I am very tired.
W: Well, how about going shopping and buying some new clothes?
M: Oh, no.That's the last thing in the world that I want to do!

M: I've got so much homework and I don't understand any of it.
W: Dad will be home shortly. You can ask him to help you.
M: Come on. You're two years above me at school. Can't you help?
W: I'm busy preparing for tomorrow's English exam.
M: But Dad will be tired when he gets home.
W: Fine, I'll help you with one question. What subject are you struggling with most?
M: I really need help with these math problems.

W: I've got a new office...
M: That's great! Congratulations.
W: I'll need a bookshelf and some cups. Are there any cups in your office?
M: I think there are four cups in my office.
W: And do you have any furniture in your office?
M: Oh yes, I've got a sofa and two comfortable armchairs.
W: Are there any tables in your office?
M: Yes, I've got a table in front of the sofa.
W: Is there a computer in your office?
M: Yes, I keep a laptop on my desk next to the phone.
W: Thanks a lot for your help, Jim. This gives me a good idea of how to arrange my office.
M: My pleasure.

W: OK, everyone. That's enough for today. Put the volleyballs away and go get changed. Jason, stay behind, please.
M: Sure, Coach. Do you need help in putting up the badminton nets for the next class?
W: No. In fact, I want to ask if you'd like to be our new basketball team captain.
M: Captain? Why do you choose me?
W: Why not?
M: Well...I'm just surprised because I'm not the best player. Liam is our best scorer. And Kevin is the best defender on the team. I can jump pretty high, I guess...
W: You can. But that's not why I pick you. I choose you because you're a natural leader.
M: Do you think so?
W: Yes. Some of the others may be better athletes, but you know how to lead the team. And you think about the big picture, rather than just your own part in the game.
M: Wow...Thanks!
W: So, what do you say?
M: Yes, please. I'd love to! I will do my best to make our team better.

W: Hello, everyone. My name is Caroline Benson. I never expected to spend some of my first year at university filming The Finnegans. I'd only ever acted at school, but I'd been fond of the book since I was eleven. My grandmother used to say I was just like Polly Finnegan and I always imagined myself playing her. And I believe I could play the part well. I took a year off to go travelling in Chile before university. During the trip, my mother emailed me to say there were plans to turn the book into a film. I replied I had to go for the part. She was taken aback at first, but sent my photo to the director for an interview. I flew back and got the part. The outdoor filming took a long time, so I got permission from the university to be away for three weeks. While filming on set, I often stayed up late to finish my essays and coursework. I didn't tell my university friends, but they found out later and thought it was great. It was a wonderful experience — I'm so lucky.
