W: Doctor, I can’t sleep very well. Could I have some sleeping pills, please?

M: Oh, why can’t you sleep?

W: I don’t really know.

M: Is anything worrying you?

W: Well, perhaps. I’ve been working very hard. We’ve been very busy recently.

M: Well, I don’t really like giving patients sleeping pills. You must have a good rest. If you can’t sleep, have a hot bath before you go to bed and then read a boring book. Don’t choose exciting ones. And don’t drink coffee.

W: Oh, but I like a drink before I go to bed.

M: OK, then have a glass of milk instead. You can also have some fruit or bread but don’t have a big meal in the evening.

听下面一段对话,回答第8至第10三个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。

Text 7

W: Sorry to bother you, but could you spare some time to answer a few questions about your TV watching habits?

M: Sure.

W: How many hours a day on average do you watch TV?

M: Not a lot really — just over an hour mainly at two different times.

W: So what are the two main times of the day?

M: At breakfast and late at night — eleven or even midnight.

W: What sort of programs do you go for?

M: Some news, but I also really like some of the old comedy shows.

W: If there were a new TV channel, which type of programs would you like to see more?

M: I certainly don’t think we need any more programs like news and commercials. We need more about things like local information, providing service for the community.

W: What advice would you like to give when the directors set up the channel?

M: I’ll advise them to pay attention to the quality of the live broadcast, the sound system and do more of these kinds of interviews, like talking with their potential audience.

W: OK, that’s it. Thanks for your time and advice.

听下面一段对话,回答第11至第13三个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。

Text 8

W: Hello, Bobby. It seems that I can’t arrive at your home by 12 o’clock.

M: What happened? We are expecting you.

W: I’m so sorry. I’ve been held up by the traffic jam for half an hour. I’d have arrived but for that.

M: I see. Where are you now?

W: Thirty meters ahead is Waterloo Bridge.

M: It’s not far away from here. It’s...let me see...about 20 minutes’ walk. Can you walk here?

W: I’ve thought of that, but what can I do with my car? If only I’d taken a taxi!

M: That’s too bad. Don’t worry. We’ll put off the lunch till 1 o’clock.

W: I’m so sorry to keep you waiting.

M: It doesn’t matter.

听下面一段对话,回答第14至第16三个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。

Text 9

W: I heard that you were busy preparing for this year’s Campus Film Festival.

M: Yeah. We’re making the promotional videos. Are you interested in that?

W: I don’t really know about that. Can you tell me something about the festival?

M: Sure. It was started by our students’ union years ago and has grown every year. The films are normally shot by students from different universities.

W: Cool! Then who picks the films?

M: It’s up to the organization committee to decide.

W: Last year I went to the festival. The comedies were very interesting. Oh, my favorite was the video interviews.

M: Yes. They were truly impressive.

W: All the films are from universities in our country, aren’t they?

M: Not exactly. We occasionally choose some films from foreign universities. The words on the screen are translated into English so that everybody can understand the context.

W: Then how much does a ticket cost? Is it still 12 dollars?

M: No.This year it only costs 8 dollars for the students and 10 dollars for others.

听下面一段独白,回答第17至第20四个小题。现在你有20秒钟的时间阅读这四个小题。
