测试二

Text 1

M: These tomatoes and carrots are quite difficult to grow.

W: What about mushrooms? Are they difficult to grow too?

M: No, they spring up like weeds.

Text 2

W: Here is the list of supplies you need. Be sure to get everything on the list. You'll need all of these notebooks, as well as pencils and paper.

M: Okay, Mrs. Kaplan. My mom is taking me to the office supply store after class today.

Text 3

W: Dad, it's Julia's birthday today.

M: Oh, is she having a party?

W: Yes. And she's invited me to spend the night at her place. Is that all right, Dad?

M: OK. Just call me when you want me to pick you up.

Text 4

W: Is this a place where I can catch the bus to the zoo?

M: Yes, you can take a T-30 from here, but then you have to walk six blocks.

W: That's bad. I'm too tired. Maybe I should take a taxi.

Text 5

M: Professor Johnson, I am wondering how you are going to calculate our final grades.

W: They are based on many things: homework, attendance, and performance in monthly exams, midterms, and finals.

M: What counts the most?

W: Actually I look at all of them and let's not forget class participation.

Text 6

W: Could you tell me what I'll be responsible for?

M: You will have to check if our guests are happy with their stay in our hotel and make sure that they have everything they need. You will also answer phones.

W: Will I have to do everything on my own?

M: You will work with Mrs. Adams.

W: I'm so happy that I won't work alone. Is it allowed to wear jeans?

M: I would prefer to see you wearing a formal dress. You need to look professional.

W: OK. Got it.

Text 7

M: Judith, I just wanted to thank you for all your help. All of the flyers and posters you made for this year's Jazz Festival look amazing.

W: No problem! I was delighted that you asked me to get involved. I really hope that this year's event proves to be a big success.

M: Well, I just heard that a reporter from a distinguished magazine is here to write a review of all the concert performers, so that's exciting!

W: It sure is! Do you have any time to meet up sometime this afternoon?

M: Sure. Let's meet at the main stage at the end of Catriona Salford's set. Then we can watch the next musician together.

Text 8

M: How often do you use the Internet?

W: I use it almost every day, but I usually only use it to check my business e-mail and contact my friends. I don't often surf the Internet.

M: I use the Internet a lot. I use it to find products at the lowest prices for my company. It can be upsetting when the connection is poor.

W: So, are you online six hours a day?

M: No, it's two hours more. I like the job, though. Sometimes, I help other people in the office if they're having trouble online.

W: How do you find the Internet as a source of information?

M: I think it's fairly useful, but there are some problems.

W: What are the problems?

M: First, a lot of information you find online is false. Second, the biggest problem is that people easily get addicted to it and buy what they don't need.

Text 9

W: Today I'm talking to the teenage skateboard champion, Blayne Jackson. Blayne, how did you first learn to skateboard?

M: I got my first skateboard when I was 8. I was hoping to join the skateboard club at my local park, but I had to be at least 12 to have lessons. So I just watched lots of skateboarding videos and then practiced all the moves. My cousin was really good at doing jumps, but he was 13 and not interested in teaching a kid like me!

W: Where's the best place for skateboarding?

M: Well, for freestyle-boarding, any flat ground, like a basketball court, will do. The place I like best right now is the path that goes along the beach in my town.

W: I guess health is important. What do you do to stay fit?

M: I used to skateboard for 3 hours every day. That wasn't keeping me fit enough, though. So I've had a home gym put in and I've started to spend time in there.

W: Any advice for young people taking up skateboarding?

M: Don't waste money on a cheap board and don't expect to learn straight away. It takes time and practice.

W: Thanks. Blayne.

Text 10

M: Hi, my name is Sam Conti and my job is making and selling chocolate. People often ask how I got into this business. Well, my parents wanted me to study medicine or economics at university, but at the time I thought law might open more doors, so that's what I did. But life doesn't always work out the way you plan it. After college, I spent one year in South America, where I fell in love with growing cocoa beans. It is not an easy job, because cocoa beans can be easily affected by weather — much more than other fruits like apples or bananas. In fact, the beans are more like grapes, so each year's crop is of a different quality. When I came home, I decided to open a small shop making and selling my own chocolate. That was hard work I can tell you, because so much can go wrong with chocolate. The hardest bit is melting it in the right way, but cooling it correctly isn't easy either. To learn the trade, I set about testing all the chocolate I could find. Another thing I like to do is write up my experiments. I keep a diary of this. That's why I'm successful.
