M: Good afternoon, and welcome to City Hour, the radio show that brings you all the latest information about events in and around our city. Today we have Cynthia Smith with us, who is heading up this year's city fair. Cynthia, would you start by giving us some of the basic information about the fair? Where will it take place this year?

W: Well, usually it was held at the Fairgrounds, but this year we've had to change the location due to some construction work. You know, workers are building the new high school and they've been using the Fairgrounds as a place to store construction materials. So we moved the fair to the City Park, which I think is a wonderful location.

M: Yes, that will be a great place for the fair. It begins on Friday morning with a special opening event, right?

W: Actually, it won't begin until that evening. But you've heard about the special event. Traditionally we begin with a speech but this year there will be a special dance performance.

M: Cynthia, could you tell our listeners about the price of admission? How much will it cost to attend the fair?

W: We are trying to keep the price down as much as possible. A three-day pass is just $25, or you can buy a pass valid for Saturday or Sunday only for $15. But the opening event on Friday doesn't cost anything to attend and we're hoping a lot of people will come to watch that.

W: Hello everyone! I'm very happy to be invited to this programme today. I'd like to share my impression of Paris with you. Actually, there's something interesting to see in every corner of Paris: the old buildings, neighborhoods and the historical sites. The weather's been great too, cool and dry. Lifestyle in Paris is different from that in the United States in some ways. The most obvious thing is that there are many more activities in the streets than in a typical US city. People gather together in open markets, cafes, parks and squares. Then, of course, there's the food. Everything is fresher and better than at home. I've put on five pounds since I arrived. But I'm still having a hard time with the language. People speak very fast and it's hard to get them to repeat things. And it's hard for me to make friends but I guess that can be true in any big city in a new country.


