Lixia, or the Start of Summer, is the 7th of China's 24 solar terms. This year, it falls on May 5th. It means the change from spring to summer.

People celebrate Lixia in different ways. Some people cook “Five-coloured Rice”. It's a symbol of hopes for a happy life. In some places, children wear eggs around their necks for health and safety. People also weigh themselves on Lixia and check again later to see whether they get thinner or heavier in summer.
