       W: Good evening, my friends! Welcome to Animal House! There's news about elephants. 35 Asian elephants have been performing every night in a circus. Now they're ready to retire. The Asian elephants were formerly under the care of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. They're now being welcomed to a 2, 500-acre Florida reserve. There they can wander among their favorite habitats — wetlands, grasslands, and a forest — and play with water in 11 different waterholes. The White Oak Conservation Center, located in Yulee, was set up to give home to the retired elephants. They will become the largest herd of Asian elephants in the Western Hemisphere. The 4-square-mile center is the best place for these elephants because they've been raised by humans and are not equipped to survive in the wild. The first group of elephants will be transported in pairs from the circus to their new home next Monday. After they arrive there, they will be joined by another group. That's all for today's program.
