M: I'm trying to book a restaurant for 20 people, but they all want to eat different types of food. How should we decide?

W: I'm happy to go with the majority. Ask people to vote on it. That's better than picking one at random.

M: Be careful — drive slowly just like this through the parking lot.

W: I'll be careful with your new car. This practice will be worth it once I know how to drive.

M: My car isn't the issue. This is an appropriate speed — continue driving.

M: I felt dizzy and then I fell down. Do you think I'm ill, doctor?

W: No, I think you have been working so hard that you forgot to drink water regularly.

W: I forgot my wallet at home. Can you pay for our movie tickets and food?

M: Yeah. How much is per ticket?

W: $10 each. Plus $7 for snacks and drinks.

M: I want to exercise more and train towards a new goal for climbing or sports.

W: That sounds like a risk. We could do a half marathon together.

M: You're right. But I'm not a runner, either. I'll try competing in powerlifting.

W: Emily has great potential, but unfortunately, she does not apply herself.

M: She has been very distant recently. My wife and I work away a lot.

W: I see. That must be tough.

M: It's not an excuse, but my daughter spends half her time with her grandmother.

W: Perhaps we could invite her to the next meeting.

M: She is very old and can't leave the house much. She used to be a teacher actually.

W: Well, now that we know of the family situation, we can keep a closer eye on Emily and offer more support.

M: Thank you. We want her to go succeed and go to university.

M: I purchased this television here last week, but I'd like to return it now.

W: Certainly sir, what seems to be the issue with it?

M: Well, the picture is perfect, no faults here, but the sound is not great.

W: Would you like to exchange it for another model?

M: Yes, but it has to be that exact size. It fits perfectly on the entertainment unit I have.

W: Unfortunately, this is the only model in that size.

M: In that case, I'll just take my money.

W: The other thing I could offer you is our store credit if you want to purchase something else.

M: No, I don't need anything else.

W: Not a problem. One moment please, and I'll sort that out for you.

W: I'm having so much trouble learning French. How did you manage to learn it so quickly?

M: I just made sure to practice every single day for the same amount of time.

W: Are there any good programs or any books that helped you?

M: I didn't really use any specific language programs or books. I just found things I was interested in online, and translated them every time I practiced. I repeated them out loud too.

W: Like articles and movies?

M: Yeah. Articles, movies and TV shows. I don't think the content itself is that important. Rather, being consistent was the key when I learned French. It is even more important than speaking with real French people.

W: That's good to know, since there are barely any French speakers here in Australia.

M: You should just practice on your own for now, and then have more opportunities to have real conversations when you move back to London.

W: Hey Rob, are you here for the meeting?

M: Yeah. I haven't seen you for a couple of weeks.

W: I was on vacation. Have you ever been to Japan?

M: Yes, I taught English there for two years. That was nearly a decade ago now.

W: I was there this summer and I was so impressed with the technology they have.

M: Yes, especially the train system. It is more advanced compared with our old rail system.

W: You read my mind. The train is so fast and clean.

M: What other technology did you experience while you were there?

W: One of the hotels I stayed at had a robot at the front desk to check me in. Another robot brought towels and water to my room.

M: That's so cool. They didn't have that when I was there. I need to go back at some point.

W: Have you been thinking of doing so?

M: Not in the near future. Louise and I have just had a baby. I'm not sure Japan is the best place to take a small child on holiday.

W: Maybe not to the big cities, as they are always busy, but some of the quieter towns are lovely.

M: I'd like to wait until Mary is older, so she can appreciate the Japanese culture more.

W: Welcome to Sabie Sands Park. This place isn't just my business. It's my passion coming to life. I grew up in India, and I spent so much of my childhood caring for animals. It wasn't until I went to the boarding school in the city that I saw how urban people lived. It wasn't just the lack of fresh air that surprised me. It was the complete absence of knowledge of nature and animals as well. My business partner and I grew up on a farm with very little money. But luckily for us, we were able to secure money for our business through rounds of investment. Originally, all of our investors recommended opening a public zoo and selling hundreds of tickets per day at around $20 each. Instead, we decided to make our park a more interactive experience. These days we bring in young students to work side-by-side with our staff. Children then get a free educational program in animal caretaking. However, the park is also open to the public, in which we provide family tours and accommodation for the price from $30 to $100 per person. We've expanded our park to bring in all but the most dangerous animals. Of course, we want to provide children the experience of seeing animals like giraffes and elephants, but lions and wolves would be too dangerous. Now, we hope to add new members to our management team to take over daily operations while my current partner and I get older.
