M: Our flight is scheduled for next Tuesday. It will leave at 9, but we must begin boarding an hour earlier.

W: I see. And it's half an hour's drive to the airport.

Text 2

W: Jack, surprised to meet you here. I thought you only liked playing tennis.

M: No. I also like playing basketball, and my favorite is football.

Text 3

M: I was wondering if I could invite you to the cinema this evening.

W: I'd love to, but I have an important job interview tomorrow morning and there are some materials to prepare.

Text 4

M: How are you going to the airport on Wednesday, Betty?

W: I'm going to take the bus. I can get off just outside the airport. A taxi is too expensive.

Text 5

M: I've already taken one pill, but still feel terrible. Shall I take one more?

W: Yes, honey. The doctor recommended you should take one or two according to your condition. Take one more pill and then lie in bed for a rest.

Text 6

W: John, I hear you have changed your job. Why?

M: When I worked in the shop, I had to get up very early and work at night. Thus I had little time to read books.

W: Where are you working now?

M: In a university library. It doesn't pay as much as being a salesperson, but I don't have to work at night and can get more reading time.

W: I see. What are you reading now?

M: Some books on economics. I've always wanted to work in a bank.

Text 7

W: So, what do we need to get for the picnic tomorrow?

M: Just a few things — paper plates, bread, lunch meat and chips.

W: What about soda?

M: Oh. That too. It almost slips my mind.

W: We can get Coke or Pepsi, and maybe some Sprite too. Everyone likes those.

M: Sounds good. Let's split up, so we get everything faster.

W: I'll get the bread and sodas. You can get the other three.

M: All right. Let's meet at Register 2.

W: OK. See you in a minute.

Text 8

W: What are you doing, Roger? You look so happy.

M: I'm choosing some pictures from my birthday party to post on my social media account. And this one is so amusing.

W: Huh, it is. Do you know all of your social media friends or followers personally? If not, this could cause you trouble. While it's fun to share posts with others online, some may post rude and impolite comments.

M: Well. I think that is also a great way to become acquainted with others, and that most people will make nice comments.

W: But anyone can view your social media posts and make them public.

M: I know. But sharing is an important part of networking, and has benefits, opening doors to all kinds of chances of work, volunteering and friendships.

W: Perhaps you're right, but I prefer to be private and only communicate with those I know personally.

Text 9

W: You've been sitting in front of the computer for hours. What are you busy with?

M: I'm searching for some information for my cousin Alice. She is writing a school paper.

W: Why doesn't she do it herself?

M: She got sick a week ago and has stayed in hospital for three days. So she doesn't have enough time to finish it.

W: Poor Alice. What was wrong with her?

M: There was something wrong with her stomach. It was serious. Luckily, she recovered fast.

W: Why did that happen? I mean she is so young and energetic.

M: Mainly because she always eats ice creams. She almost had three ice creams every day, even though her parents disapproved.

W: Oh. She had too much that stuff. It was bad for her stomach.

M: You are right. The doctor advised her to stop eating it for the following months.

W: Do you think she can make it?

M: Sure. She has learnt a good lesson and realized how important it is to keep a healthy lifestyle.

W: Yes, it is vital. I always stay up late recently. Now I think I should make a change.

Text 10

How do you spend your vacation? When it comes to ways to take vacations, different people often have different preferences. However, taking a trip is one of the most popular choices for people across the world. As to who travels the most, a study found that those from Scandinavia and America top the list. Americans are the world's largest group of home travelers. People from Norway travel the most internationally. People from Finland, however, beat both groups as the world's most-traveled citizens, with average 7.5 trips a year to places both at home and abroad.

As for the traveling habits, Russians prefer visiting historical districts, while many Chinese travelers "consider shopping a key part" of their visit. Chinese tourists also like to post online about their trips as they travel around. Americans often arrive at a vacation destination with a list of famous sites to see in a hurry, while Italians treat travels a little more casually, enjoying sleeping late and sometimes planning their daily schedule over breakfast. Germans appreciate efficiency and the British enjoy a good deal. 

With various traveling ways, people have their own favorite destinations. No matter how, traveling can make an impressive vacation. And what else favorite ways are there to take vacations? You'll know from my program tomorrow.
