高考仿真预测卷Ⅱ

Text 1

W: It's so hot today. I'm afraid we have to watch a movie at home instead.

M: Yeah. It's really not a suitable day for cycling.

W: No worries. Let's pick a comedy. And I'll make some cold drinks.

Text 2

W: I thought it was just a mosquito bite, but I became worried when my arms started to hurt.

M: You did the right thing by coming here. I can give you some cream that will help to ease the discomfort.

Text 3

M: Ray always appears very confident when he dances.

W: Yes. Actually, I sent him to learn to dance mainly to encourage more physical activity and improve his fitness. And he made many friends, which is an unexpected benefit.

Text 4

W: Joe, I'm so sorry I forgot your birthday. I don't know why. I usually remember it every year.

M: Never mind, Sarah. I know you have a lot to think about.

W: I hate missing important dates. I hope you can forgive me.

Text 5

M: I doubt I'll be going camping tomorrow. If we went in this weather, I think my tent would blow away!

W: Actually, the weather report says it will be rainy tomorrow.

M: Oh, that's worse.

Text 6

W: Mike, you look like you're on cloud nine to be here by the sea.

M: Yeah. I struggled for a long time and finally quit my job. I'm not an accountant anymore.

W: Wow. I think you're fit for a tour guide.

M: To be honest, I want to be a lawyer. Well, don't talk about that. We're here for fun.

W: Okay, fair enough. So, what do you think of this place?

M: It's amazing. But the sunlight glares. Do you bring your sunscreen? You'd better use it. I need to wear my sunglasses.

W: OK. Oh, I forgot to bring my sunglasses.

M: Did you leave them at home or at the hotel?

W: I don't think so. I remember I put them on the seat in the departure hall before boarding the plane.

Text 7

W: You won't believe what happened to me yesterday. I received a package, but when I opened it, there was a pair of men's shoes inside.

M: That's strange. Did you order shoes?

W: No, I ordered a good match for my new necklace — a blue dress. I checked the address on the package. It had my name and a very similar apartment number, but the order number was completely different.

M: What did you do then?

W: I called the delivery company right away. The customer service woman said she'd track it down and send the delivery man back within an hour.

M: Did he come back on time?

W: Yes, he arrived in 40 minutes. He kept apologizing and said he'd mixed up two packages. He brought my dress and took the shoe box back.

M: Did the delivery company offer anything to make up for the trouble?

W: The customer service said they would give me a full refund for this delivery and a 20% discount on my next order.

M: The shoes must be bought by a man who has the same name as you. What a coincidence!

W: Yes. And the delivery man said he lives only two blocks away.

Text 8

W: China has made such significant contributions to the world throughout history.

M: Really? Like what?

W: Well, for starters, the Chinese invented paper around two thousand years ago. Can you imagine life without paper? In modern times, China is a leader in technology. They've produced some of the world's most advanced electronics and useful devices.

M: That's impressive.

W: Chinese cuisine is another great example. Where would the world be without Chinese restaurants?

M: Oh, yes, Chinese food is especially rich and delicious. I take my family out for Chinese food several times a month.

W: Me, too. And let's not forget traditional Chinese medicine, which has been practiced for thousands of years and continues to influence healthcare globally.

M: I never realized the extent of China's contributions to the world.

W: It's truly remarkable, from the ancient inventions that shaped civilization to the modern innovations driving global industries.

M: Absolutely. All those things show the rich cultural heritage and the intelligence and wisdom of the Chinese people.

Text 9

W: Have you ever seen this photo before?

M: No. Who are all those people?

W: Top sportsmen and sportswomen from various fields. The idea was to show the huge range of body types that exist even among top athletes.

M: Interesting. I suppose different physical features help with different sports.

W: Exactly. I mean, look, Tara Lipinski is only 155 cm, 41 cm shorter than Lisa Leslie! Yet, they're both world champions!

M: Well, height is a huge advantage in basketball! Maybe the opposite is true for figure skating.

W: It is! Being shorter makes it easier to balance.

M: Wow, look at this guy! You'd never guess he was an athlete. 175 cm tall, 168 kg… Wouldn't that make him seriously overweight?

W: By traditional standards. Yet, he held every American weightlifting record in his class!

M: Really?

W: Yeah. He's long since retired, but according to his online information page, he is still sporty and energetic!

M: Wow!

W: This has shown me that every body type can be strong, healthy, and beautiful. It's just about finding the right sport. For example, I'll never be thin enough for long-distance running, but I'm the best in the school at the 100 m!

Text 10

M: Good evening, everybody! I'm delighted to see so many of you here today for my introductory talk about the university music society. The society was originally set up fifty years ago by a group of tutors in the music department. They ran it themselves for the first ten years, and then handed over the organization of the society to students, and it has stayed that way ever since. We invite experts to give talks on various different subjects throughout the year — we've had speakers telling us about pianos through the ages and how to make drums. After today, you will know better about violins. And next Wednesday, you'll have a chance to hear our jazz group playing in a concert. Do you remember where the King's Hall is, where you had your first-year welcome talk yesterday? Well, the concert will be in the slightly smaller Union Hall, just opposite. We have a competition every year for young composers. You are welcomed to take part in it, which will definitely make your life more colorful.
