W: Hello, I'm having a party on Saturday. Will you come?
M: On Saturday? I'd love to, but I'm visiting my cousin in New York next Monday. And I have to spend the weekend buying him some gifts.
Text 2
M: If I were you, I'd just walk to work. It would take you about 20 minutes. Riding a bike is a good choice, too.
W: I agree. But this week my husband is away on business, so I have to drive my kids to school before I go to work. I'm pressed for time, you know.
Text 3
M: When will the meeting begin?
W: According to the schedule, it should start at 9:30, and it will last for an hour and a half.
Text 4
M: I find there are plenty of classical music CDs on the Internet. You can buy them very cheaply if you like them.
W: Great. I know you often listen to them. You can try some rock music, which can make you energetic and powerful. And jazz music also makes people feel relaxed.
M: Mm...I sometimes listen to them.
Text 5
M: Did you live above the bank?
W: Yes, I could walk to the town square when I wanted because it was so near.
M: Why did you move house then?
W: We moved because it's quieter opposite the park.

M: I'm going to tell you what I plan to do with this amount of money. First, we need to buy a new house. This one is too small.
W: Buying a house doesn't cost all of it if we borrow some money from the bank.
M: I know. And it could be a big deal to us. I prefer to make a large down payment and then our monthly payments will be small. In addition, I would like to take a trip to Europe.
W: Travelling abroad? I love this idea. We can book a family package tour. And this doesn't cost too much.
听下面一段对话,回答第8至第10三个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。
Text 7
W: Hello, welcome to The Daily Grind. What can I get for you?
M: Good morning! I actually have no idea what I want to drink today! Any recommendations?
W: Do you drink your coffee black? Or do you prefer to add cream, sugar, or milk to it?
M: I certainly do not drink it black! The taste is so strong!
W: OK, well, then, do you like your coffee with sugar?
M: I guess so. To be honest, I'm not much of a coffee drinker. I've always been more of a tea drinker, but lately my friends have all started going out for coffee and juice. I feel like a fool when it is time to order because I have no idea what to get!
W: Coming right up! You can pick up your drink at the end of the bar. Have a great day!
M: Thanks for your help! Where is your tip box?
W: Down at the end of the counter with the drinks.
M: Great! Have a great day!
听下面一段对话,回答第11至第13三个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。
Text 8
M: Hello, Jane. How was your doctor's appointment?
W: It was fine. He said that I'm pretty healthy. But I told him that I have trouble sleeping sometimes, and he offered me some sleeping pills.
M: Did you take them?
W: No. I'm afraid they are harmful to my health.
M: So what are you going to do?
W:I think I will make an appointment with a psychologist. Maybe I can't sleep because I'm too anxious. Talking to someone may help.
M: Well, you know, I used to have trouble sleeping. And I found a few things that help. If I exercise outdoors in the morning, it relaxes me all day. Also, if I don't use my smartphone after 20:00, then I can easily fall asleep.
W:These are great suggestions. Maybe I should try these things before I pay to see a psychologist.
M: Yeah. You might as well have a try.
听下面一段对话,回答第14至第16三个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。
Text 9
M: Betty, how was the concert last night?
W: It was fine. But I didn't enjoy it because I had an argument with a person.
M: You? It's unbelievable that you should have an argument with anybody. What happened?
W: It was a woman, with her son, about 6 years old. They sat behind me and talked all the way through the concert. It was so annoying.
M: So you argued with them?
W: No. I just told them not to talk and they nodded. But a minute later, they began talking again. The boy even kicked my seat. I felt quite uncomfortable so I turned my head and stared at them. Guess what? The woman said I should be nice to kids. Then we started to argue. What would you have done?
M: I wouldn't have argued with her. I would have asked the security guard to remove her.
W: You're right.
听下面一段独白,回答第17至第20四个小题。现在你有20秒钟的时间阅读这四个小题。
Text 10
W: Welcome to the museum. Before we go, let me just give you a taste of what we have here. Well, for one thing, we have a fine collection of the twentieth and the twentyfirstcentury paintings, many by very wellknown artists. I'm sure you'll recognize several of the paintings. They attract the largest number of visitors, so it's best to go early in the day, before the crowds arrive. Then there are the nineteenthcentury paintings and sculptures. The museum was opened in the middle of that century, and several of the artists donated some works. Then there's the collection of coins. Most of them were discovered by farmers digging their gardens, and donated to the museum! And our clay and glass was left to the museum by its founder. And in terms of his will, we're not allowed to add anything to that collection: he believed it was perfect in itself, and we don't see any reason to disagree!
