M: Grandma gave me 35 pounds but they were only 20 pounds in the sports shop in the city center.

W: That sounds expensive to me. My new shoes were only 10 pounds.

M: Are you going to take the bus downtown or take your bike?

W: I think there's too much traffic on the road today. It's not safe to ride in traffic.

M: Well, look, I'm driving downtown. Shall I give you a ride?

W: OK. Thanks.

W: I'm thinking of starting my own tour company.

M: A tour company?But you can't find your way to your own apartment.

M: Have you seen my mobile phone anywhere?

W: I saw it on the bed earlier.

M: I've used it since then. Did I put it on the desk afterwards?

W: You often leave it on the sofa when you're watching TV. Oh, I'm right. Look,you couldn't see it because of the books.

W: OK. And where's the best place to send e-mails? Is there a good connection in the room?

M: Well, for some reason the wireless signal isn't very good in the bedrooms here, so we usually advise guests to go to the lounge. Alternatively, there are PCs in the hotel's business center on the fourth floor for a small charge.

Welcome to the museum. Before we go, let me just give you a taste of what we have here.

Well, for one thing, we have a fine collection of the 20th- and 21st-century paintings, many by very well-known artists. I'm sure you'll recognize several of the paintings. This is the gallery that attracts the largest number of visitors, so it's best to go in early in the day, before the crowds arrive.

Then there are the 19th-century paintings. The museum was opened in the middle of that century, and several of the artists each donated one work. So they're of special interest to us — we feel closer to them than other works.

The sculpture gallery has a number of fine exhibits, but I'm afraid it's closed now for decoration. You'll need to come back next year to see it properly.

Then there's the collection of coins. Most of them were discovered by farmers digging in their gardens, and donated to the museum!

And our clay and glass were left to the museum by its founder. And in the terms of his will, we're not allowed to add anything to that collection: he believed it was perfect in itself, and we don't see any reason to disagree!
