M: I read in the newspaper that the novel you are reading is excellent.

W: I've also read some negative reviews.

W: I thought the librarian said we could check out as many books as we need with our library cards.

M: That's right, but not those reference books.

W: Do you know if our food is ready? We're going to be late for the theatre if it doesn't come soon.

M: I'm sorry, ma'am. The kitchen is backed up. It ought to be ready soon.

M: The thing to keep in mind is to be clear and brief when you write your report.

W: Oh, before I forget, when is it due, Professor Lawrence?

M: It's due a week from today.

W: Billy, can I please have your science homework?

M: Um, I'm really sorry but a friend came over last night, so I only had time to finish half of it. Plus, I left it all at home.

W: Billy, you'd better have it done by tomorrow.

W: Isaac, something's wrong with the shower. It won't be turned off completely.

M: Yeah? Maybe the shower head needs replacing.

W: Oh, it's probably just a washer or something that needs to be replaced. Can you take a look at it?

M: Me? I'm not a repairman. I don't even know what's wrong with it.

W: I know. But you're always so good when the TV needs to be fixed. You know, when the screen needs adjusting.

M: Yeah, well, that's an emergency!

W: Well, I hope you will have a good time in Paris.

M: You bet I will!

M: Well, habits like that are hard to break. What I'm saying is that instead of always thinking about your weight, you could try to improve your health and increase your energy levels.

M: How come you don't practise magic tricks more?

W: It's not a skill that you can put to use very often. But I think I should practise from time to time to avoid a scene like that again. I looked so stupid!

Here we are at our time stop for today — 4, 000 years ago. You can unfasten your seat belts. ( Let's step out of the timeship and meet the people in their houses and at work.
