三、短文理解

W: Have you ever been to Xiangyang before? I visited it for the first time after I graduated from Wuhan University 5 years ago. I stayed at Lin Tao's home for 3 days. His family showed me around many places of interest. Since then, I've fallen in love with this ancient city.

Now, we've been married for several years. We both teach Chinese in a senior high school in Hangzhou. Last spring, we took the train from Hangzhou to Xiangyang. It's more convenient for us to visit our parents so we can come home 4 times a year.

There are many famous buildings in Xiangyang, but I love the bridges best. Among them the oldest bridge was built in 1970 and it's around 50 years old. It's a railway and road bridge. Besides, the longest bridge is Wolong Bridge and it was built in 2013. What's more, the widest bridge is Dongjin Bridge and it's about 36 metres wide. Last but not least, the newest bridge is Fengchu Bridge. It was open to traffic in 2020. And I think Fengchu Bridge is the most wonderful.

M: In 2019, a group of friends and I took part in an event in India. The event was to raise money for a charity. About 30 teams attended the event.Each team had a car, which they drove to the east of India. The journey took eight days.

We used a website to ask people for donations.It was really easy to receive their donations online. Our team raised around ＄4,000, and in total, the event raised around ＄17,000. 

And of course, the journey itself was lots of fun too.We drove for about twelve hours every day, and saw some beautiful things along the way. We even managed to have a game of football with the local people! It is an experience I will never forget,and hopefully the money we raised will go some way towards making people's lives better.
