W: Hello, friends. My name is Mary. What do you think good friends are like? I think good friends are like books. You don't need a lot of them.I have two good friends. Maria is a very nice girl. Last month my cat died and I felt sad. She was always with me and often made me laugh. I felt better  with her help. Jimmy is another good friend of mine. We both like playing sports. And he likes playing basketball best. Jimmy isn't good at English. Maybe I should help him more.

M: My friend Vivian and I went to different middle schools but we still stayed in touch with each other. Last week she came to visit me and I was very happy at first. However, I found her different from before. We used to talk about our study. But this time when I said that I got a good grade in my maths test, she was unhappy and wanted me to stop talking about this topic. I asked her why. She told me that she got the worst score in the test this time and her teacher was angry with her. Then I told her that one test couldn't decide anything. Finally she decided to try her best to do better next time.
