M: Francesca, what do you usually do at the weekend?

W: I usually meet my friends in the city center on Saturdays and we spend all afternoon shopping and chatting. On Sunday mornings, I go to see my grandmother.

M: What are you going to do this weekend?

W: On Saturday I'm going to get the bus to town with my friends as usual and we'll probably go to the gym. But on Sunday I'll be practicing my guitar most of the day as I will be playing in a concert next Tuesday.

W: So didn't you see anyone else for a whole year?

M: Well, there was that time when we were having the usual canned food and there was a funny noise. Jill thought it was the wind but it was getting closer. Suddenly the room was flooded with light from the window. I opened the door and found a box in the snow. I looked up and saw a plane flying away. They were passing nearby and someone told them that we were out there. They dropped us a box with some fresh fruit and vegetables. It was a lovely surprise.

 W: And now it's time to find out what's on at the Arts Center. This week's entertainment starts on Monday with a play based on the novel Birds on the Wing by author Philip Cruise. Set on a Greek island in the last century, it tells a story of true love that succeeds in the face of great difficulties. Tuesday brings a dance workshop, led by Diana Fransen. This exciting new mix of exercise and dance is great fun. The two hours will be over before you realize it. There are only places for 20 people, so book now if you're interested. The Matsuri drummers from Japan come to the Arts Center on Wednesday. If you think drumming is just a lot of loud noise, think again — their clothes and effects are amazing. On Thursday a famous band from England, directed by Leslie Ager, performs a concert of popular pieces. The jazz singer and guitarist, Maddie Felix, comes on Friday evening as part of her concert tour to celebrate her new CD. There are still a few tickets left, but hurry. They're selling out fast.
