M: Are you going to climb the Great Wall today?

W: I don't feel like doing that. I'm a bit tired. I just want to do some reading at home today.

 

W: I want to take off my shoes now. They're killing me.

M: You shouldn't have bought such small shoes. And I don't think it's a good idea to take them off now. Look, the ground is covered with ice.

W: I hate the weather today.

 

M: Didn't we see the same jacket in the other store? And that one was just 120 dollars.

W: But touch this one. This one feels much better.

M: Sara, how's your work at the supermarket?

W: I no longer work there now. The work is too dull.

M: I really didn't know that. So where do you work now?

W: I'm still looking for a job. Do you know any place that is hiring people now?

M: No. But in the entrance to our neighborhood, there are small notices put up by employers who are hiring people.

W: But such advertisements are usually about caring for children or cleaning houses. Actually, I like taking care of gardens.

W:You probably haven't experienced an earthquake, but I have. It was about ten years ago. I was ten years old then. It was around noon when the earthquake came. Since it was a Saturday, I didn't need to go to school. I had just finished my homework and was watching TV with my dad while my mother was cooking lunch. Suddenly, the table and chairs started shaking. We didn't know it was an earthquake and continued watching TV. But about two minutes later, it started to shake harder and we realized it was an earthquake. Dad and I hid under the table while Mom went to hide under a bed. The photos were falling down from the walls. When the earthquake finally stopped, my parents asked me to run with them to the playground at our school. When we got there, most of our neighbors had been there. We feared the building would fall, so we just stayed on the playground far away from buildings and cars and spent the night there. We experienced several aftershocks during that night. Luckily, no one died in that earthquake and only a few people got injured.
