W: Your new company is almost 5 kilometers away from your home, so you take a bus or drive there?

M: Well, actually, I cycle to work every day so that I can get some exercise.

 

M: I don’t want coffee for breakfast. I need to make a change.

W: OK. How about a liquid salad? But I’d like a cup of tea as usual.

M: That’s fine.

 

W: Look at this one. Dave took it in the park we visited last weekend. Isn’t it great?

M: Yes. Dave is really good at photographing.

 

W: Would you like to go on an outing tomorrow? I have a new kite.

M: I’d love to, but my brother Mike has to give a report next week and he needs me to help him go over the notes.

 

M: Tomorrow I’ll go to Mr. Smith’s yard sale. Will you go with me?

W: Yeah. I need to buy an old computer for Peter to practice typing.

M: I will just take my old coats and my daughter’s old guitar to the sale.

W: Hello. Sunnyside Hotel. May I help you?

M: Yes, I’d like to reserve a room for two on the 21st of March.

W: Okay. Just a moment. I’ll check the availability for you. The 1st of March, right?

M: No. 21st, not 1st, and we leave on 22nd March.

W: Oh, sorry. Let me see. Well, we have one suite available, complete with two bedrooms, a living room and two bathrooms. And the view of the city is great, too.

M: How much is that?

W: It’s only 150 dollars, plus a 10% room tax.

M: Okay, that will be fine. I’ll have it.

M: Guess where we ended up. When we finally asked someone, they told us we were in Grangefield.

W: Oh, that’s just unbelievable.

W: Yeah. She told me about that this morning. It seems that she’s always working in the office and seldom comes home on time.

M: We should understand her. That’s her work.

W: OK. I see. Bye, Dad.

M: Good morning, everyone. Welcome back to our program "My Story". Today, let me share with you a story of a birthday party written by a nine-year-old boy named Tom. He wrote like this:

"When I got up in the morning, nobody came to wish me a happy birthday. In the kitchen, there was no special breakfast waiting for me. Not even a simple card or present was in sight. I felt so down. And my mother even sent me out to get some vegetables for her.

When I came back and opened the door, however, my whole family and all my friends were there. They all shouted, "Surprise! Happy birthday!" The previously empty dining table was now covered with delicious foods such as fried chicken wings, meatballs, and fruits, and there were many presents in the room. My mother took out a large cake she made in person, on which were nine candles. Then everybody began to sing the "Happy Birthday" song to me.  My father was happily recording a video, and my best friend Victor was taking pictures. I was crying with joy. I’m really grateful for what they’ve done. Thanks, my family and friends." 
