M: Sorry to trouble you, but could you tell me where the post office is?
W: It’s on Seventh Avenue, about two or three blocks away from here.
M: Mom, it’s me. I woke up with bad stomachache. I went to the school clinic this morning, but it didn’t get better, obviously.
W: Oh, honey! Can you ask your roommate to help you go to the hospital first? I will be there as soon as possible.
M: What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
W: Painting, of course. I learned it back in high school. What about you?
M: I like doing sports, especially football. I play it with my friends almost every weekend.
M: I like the design, but don’t particularly care for the color. Do you have cotton shirts in other colors?
W: Well, they come in white, pale yellow, red and green. Will a white one do?
M: Yes. I prefer white.
W: Hold the line, please, Mr. Adams. Er…you’ll be arriving at the Munich Airport at 4 p.m. local time.
M: Thank you. Can I pick up my ticket when I check in?
W: Yes, but please check in at least one hour before departure.

W: Thank you. Do you have a credit card, Mr. Sandals?
M: Yes, I do. Do you accept American Express?
W: Sorry, sir, just VISA or MasterCard.
M: Here’s my VISA card.
W: Okay. You’re in Room 507. It’s nonsmoking, not very large with a single queen-size bed. Is that suitable?
M: Yes, it is exactly what I expected.
W: Here’s your key, sir. If you need anything, just dial "0" on your room phone.

W: Congratulations! It is quite an achievement!
M: Thank you very much.
W: How do you feel after winning this dance competition?
M: Wow, unbelievable! I’m surprised, proud, and touched at once.
W: When was the first time you were interested in dancing?
M: When I was 5 years old, my mom took me to a live dance show, and I started to love it.
W: Do you take special courses or do you just do self-learning to sharpen your dancing skills?
M: Well, I do both of them. I also learn from some gifted dancers.
W: Do you also learn music?
M: Yes. I learn traditional music to support my skill.
W: What was the hardest thing in your career?
M: When I had to convince my parents of my career choice.
W: How important is dancing to you?
M: Dancing is an inseparable part of my life. I feel completely contented when I dance.
W: Thank you very much for your time.
听下面一段对话,回答第11至第13三个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。
M: Lisa, what are you doing?
W: I am making a plan for the next holiday.
M: What? A plan for the holiday? So, you always have activities on holidays?
W: Of course. My family always go somewhere on our holidays.
M: Really? That is very enjoyable. By the way, what did you do on your last holiday?
W: We went to a very beautiful island in the northern part of our country. The island is rarely traveled, and has a very wonderful view. How about you? What do you usually do on holidays?
M: I don’t do anything. I usually go to see my grandmother in the village. That’s all I do because my parents are very busy.
W: Why are they always busy?
M: They just have too much work.
W: Do you want to come with my family to spend your holiday? We’re likely to go to a nearby town.
M: I am afraid my parents will not allow me to do so. They will send me to my grandmother’s house as usual.
W: I think they do that because they love you. They are nervous about your being alone and want to make sure you are safe and well.
M: Maybe, but I also want to go somewhere like you.
听下面一段对话,回答第14至第17四个小题。现在你有20秒钟的时间阅读这四个小题。
W: Hi, Jerry, what’s wrong? You look a bit under the weather.
M: I seem to be coming down with another cold.
W: Not again! You had a cold last month, and the month before, too.
M: Well, there’s not much I can do about it. I’m not sick on purpose. I should do more physical exercise.
W: Would you mind if I made a suggestion?
M: No. Go ahead.
W: Maybe you should try some traditional Chinese medicine.
M: If it could help me get rid of this cold, I’d be willing to give it a shot.
W: Actually, it can not only make a difference to this cold, but also make your whole body stronger so you won’t catch so many colds.
M: What’s so special about traditional Chinese medicine?
W: One special point is that it’s all natural. Traditional Chinese medicine is made from plants, not chemicals, which means there are few side effects. Another advantage is that traditional Chinese medicine works slowly, so it keeps your body healthy in the long run.
M: Great! That’s just what I need! Then how can I get some traditional Chinese medicine? Can I buy it in any drugstore?
W: I’m afraid not. First, you should be examined by a traditional Chinese medicine doctor. Ah, there is a good doctor just near my company. The doctor will just feel your pulse and check the color of your tongue. It’s very simple and painless!
M: Great! I have some free time on Thursday and Friday. How’s your schedule? I hope you can go with me.
W: I’m free on both days. I’ll call the doctor to set up an appointment, and then let you know what has been decided.
M: That’s wonderful. It should be a very interesting experience for me.
听下面一段独白,回答第18至第20三个小题。现在你有15秒钟的时间阅读这三个小题。
Gardeners cannot always tell how much rain has fallen. Your garden area may seem completely wet after a strong, short period of rain. But if you put your finger a short way into the ground, you might find very dry soil.
Because watering — not too much and not too little — is one of the keys to a successful garden, it helps to get more information about rainfall. As a general rule, plants need about 25.4 millimeters of water per week for healthy growth. You can easily measure this with a rainfall measuring device, which you can either buy or make at home out of nothing more than a coffee can or some other cans, and a measuring stick with marks 10 millimeters apart, starting from 5 millimeters. Rainfall measuring devices can tell you the amount of rain or the depth, in millimeters. They can also tell you how long it takes to put the desired amount of water onto the garden. It is best to water most plants, like tomatoes, at their roots and in the morning, before the sun becomes hot. Any water that falls directly on your plants will dry during the day. When you can, water your garden slowly so the liquid can go deeper into the soil.
